compressor rules and setting?????

Its very hard to set the compressor and there are some rules and its like slow attack and release for low frequency and fast attack and release for high frequency and

so on and if the compression ratio is very high its a limiter...and so on so too its very hard to do set compression parameters

please recommend me tips for metal songs guitar and multi band compression things any comment would be highly appreciated....?????

Basically, the only one who can answer your question is YOU.

However, you need to have a firm understanding of what you're using before you can decide what you want. Glen's tutorial will hopefully get you in the right direction there.

*Multiband* compression also? (bangs head on desk)
 
seriously, why the snide comments when someone asks a question or words it in a way thats not based on 100 years of production experience? God forbid someone asks a question that has been covered before. guess what? the search function has a lot of good info. it also has pages upon pages of shit that isnt on topic. i dont know if this guy even tried the search function, but if homeboy knew what the fuck he was talking about, he wouldnt have had to ask. is that really such a horrible thing? this website is running over with awesome and useful info from the experienced members in here. if you guys dont want to answer a question that may be 'beneath' you, simply avoid it and move on to the next thread. its no big deal. noone was born knowing this shit. im always down for smack-talk and bullshitting, but sometimes some of the holier-than-thou attitude from some people in here can be a bit much. theres no doubt you guys can help, and you usually do. but the lame ass comments really undermine the knowledge some of you can share. last i checked, we all wanted to make good music on our own.

Jeez. Give the guy a break. He's from Nepal... check his Myspace page info. He's probably fairly knowledgeable about audio but just comes across less so with the language change. I bet his original question was meant more like... "I'm interested in studying the fine points of compressor use re attack and release and their effects on various aspects of the frequency spectrum, especially in multiband comp use. Good reference links appreciated."

No...My "snide" remark had nothing to do with that. I'm no expert either.

But I do have to admit that it was un-called for, and I'll tell you why. I forget sometimes that not everyone is from the "West" and that English might not be their first language...It was the lack of punctuation and grammar that I'm getting sick of seeing. But this time, I should have looked at the location. I apologise, it was un-called for THIS TIME.

And I was going to post this apology as soon as I did see the location of the original poster whether that last post was made or not.

haha. i see. i didnt even notice his poor grammar. i guess from reading too many message boards and text messages from my pre-teen kid ive learned how to read otherwise unintelligible shit. hell, i rarely use caps myself. carry on then. :p
 
Well, easy for it to happen since there are so many troll-types that pose questions just to tweak and then enjoy the head-banging-on-the-table responses. Anyone with just a few posts is a likely suspect.

I think the point the thread is getting at is that you have to be your own experimentator, facilitator and terminator.

Great and easy to understand tutorials can't give you individuality. It's only the theory that provides a foundation for when you start tweeking shit out in the world.

For example, you would never really know the difference of compressing pre EQ versus post EQ if you don't go out there and try it. It's all situational, so the open lines of communication (with credible info) come into play, but be kind of skeptical about it.

So in other words, just combine the information you get with your ears in addition to your own touch of personal intuition, and that's probably going to give you the best results.

Then there is the issue of different models of compressors (be it in the hardware or software) sounding/acting differently from one another.

Nobody's fighting...I guess you misunderstood the posts AFTER my admittedly un-called for remark on your English. I was apologising for not realising that English is not your first language. There is no fight.
