Compressor Recommendations?

I have recently bought an RNC and i am totally digging it.. but i feel the need to add a different flavour to my setup. I currently own and Aphex 207 preamp and an RNP is on the way. I have a pretty decent selection of mics (ntk, SM7, SM81's, SM57's, Nady ribbon mic.. etc) I am looking for a good compressor at about the 400-500$(used) price point.. something to add flavour to my drum mixes nad my guitars amp micing.. i play all sorts of styles.. but its usually somewhat rocky. Any suggestions?

DBX makes some pretty decent compressors, for even less than that price range. Or, spend a couple hundred more and get a used Distressor, they are worth it.
