I haven't really grasped everything to know about compression so I'll ask a question...

Say I have a pretty generic rock beat, nothing fancy.

So, what you set all this up to...

Output Gain:
Attack Time:
Release Time:

Input Gain:
Attack Time:
Release Time:

Lookahead Time:

Looks like I will be the first of many to say this...there is no right answer. Every situation will be different. How hard did you play? What is your mic setup? For example, if you are only using overheads, kick and snare...then with no tom mics, your compression settings might have to be a little different to bring the toms out more. People could tell you settings that they have used before, but slim chance that the exact same settings would be ideal for the next drummer. I found that when I was learning about compression, (and im still learning), take a preset as a place to start, and change a number...if it sounds better...cool...if not...put it back and change another number.

that s right <thajeremy> and he must know that compression is the most important thing in audio editing if your sound looks good that mean that you use a good compression ratio don t change it

an it s depend too to the atmosphere where your mic is placed in
exp; if your use a sound proof walls your comression gain can be aproximatly on 4db if not -4 on drums form me i like to leave attck as it is with a littel punch on the and

and sorry i know that my english is not pretty good
