How would you compress to mimic tape effect when you're recording to digital. I've been fooling around with a ratio of 2:1 at a threshold of -4 with slow attack and release times. Any ideas?

I use a couple different De-essers, including the waves plug in de-essers.
Set it to a 5 K and up shelf... Let it get smacked a little just on the top end.
A compressor sidechained to just hit the top works well. I dont always do this, but it is what I do IF I do it...
