Compressing a keyboard?

Recently I tried recording a keyboard with an electric piano setting. I've been looking around for compression settings but I can't to seem to find anything. Would you just compress it like you would an acoustic piano?

Do you have an idea of the kind of control you want? I.e. leveling broad strokes, catching some peaks, going for an effected sound?

I use MidiPipe on my Mac (it's free) to set the velocity curves and limits on my MIDI keyboard. That works very well. By doing that I don't need any compression if I were to record it to audio, which I normally don't - I leave everything MIDI right to mastering so the "compression" I get with MidiPipe is enough.
