Part I
=================
I feel defeated
I feel un-cleated
no traction
no action, like a stray dog at the back door
waiting for a bone
A skinny pup
no mom
no home
only looking for food and friendly voice saying 'here boy' !
call me boy - I don't care
I only need a comb for my matted hair.
and a welcome lap to lay my head
so to dream on my temporary human bed.
oh to dream the night away like puppies do every day
run with wolves
hunt by night
howl until the morning light.
or, pull the sled across the snow like Jack London dogs
don't you know?
then comes the morning
and i'm on my own
without a path or juicy bone
to follow scents that smell of death
and leave a sour taint on my breath

The sun drops low like a crying eye
I look to the west and breathe a sigh
Another night I must endure
More hours ahead to be unsure

The darkness makes my sad eyes close
