What can a guy say............ GREAT!

Comparing it to the 7/21 version........

I like the new ride placement at the beginning....... its more subtle panning and level sounds more natural.
The new eq throughout the song has really put the extemes under control....... alot smoother. You made alot of level changes too didnt you..........
It sounds like youve moved the center of the bass a little left too.......adds to the separation of a great bass sound.
Man, you did do a bunch of re eqing didnt you...... makes me wanna open up all of my shit. Things sound very under control now... no extraneous freq. biting at you..... very nice.
I really like the panning you did on the vocs (both versions).......Im gonna steal that:D
I also like the verb changes you made on the guitars .....not as wet....... ......subtle.

........Damn bro....... .........Damn.

I look forward to every post you throw up........ all learning experiences.......this is no exception. Great work SluiCe

First let me say - great job on the vibe - and you've got a nice tight arrangement there.... as well, your performance is solid.

From a mix perspective, you did a good job on the relative balances, and your effects seem reasonably appropriate.

The lead vocal is well-placed and carries a nice dynamic ambience.

There are some sonic issues however.... first off - the mix leans very heavily to the right. Distractingly so... especially in the beginning.

Next... the drums... they aren't real, and they sound it... especially on the tom rolls and cymbals/HH... the dynamic just isn't there, and you REALLY NEED real drums for this type of tune...

Also - the bass needs to be better defined, and more blended with the drums.... the kick and bass each need to be clearly heard, yet still work together. This is one of the hardest elements in a mix to get right, but it is crucial.

Again... good job -- still a few issues to deal with, but nice work!

Real nice song. I got a "Synchronicity" feel while listening.

Geez - I can't think of anything else to say except great job.

Alright who invited Blue Bear?

Actually man, I appreciate your comments a LOT! Well, except for the bit about the drums since there's nothing I can do about that at the moment, which is frustrating. But at least you reminded me that I can't get away with them for too long, outside of composition purposes. Someday (maybe soon) I'll work with a drummer again and I can stop clicking drum notes in hoping for percussive dynamics. Thanks again BB for the new challenges.

Didn't have much time for responses before work this morning....

Track Rat: TripleMmentioned Synchronicity too. I don't know much Police other than the radio stuff growing up, but I should check some older stuff out for sure. Thanks man.

Guernica: I also got your PM about this. Thanks pointing out the vocal harshness you heard. Looking forward to your bass tracks for the collab. :D

kartikbala: Thank goodness for broadband indeed. Thanks for checkin it out man!

mkg: Hey quiet down. My girlfriend doesn't know about the second chair violinist..

alibash: Ya the harshness has been brought to my attention. I think your suggestion of that EQ cut should do the trick. I did it once, then went flat EQ before the remix. Never changed it back. Thanks for the feedback.

muzeman: I know exactly what you mean.

jjtcorsair: Hey bro, what exactly is a PCM 80? Anyway, thanks for the comments!

TripleM: I appreciate the compliment.

Take it easy guys :D

very adventurous

SLuiCe-
run for your life....
very adventurous, excellent recording......
willing to go where it has to...
neat parts, fits together well...... reminds me of king crimson at times..... some of the wierd stuff that belew does....

good drum programming (that is programmed, yes?)...... parts change up very interesting ways....drums are very intuitive with the music......good attention to detail there.

interesting sounds and tones.... guitar is very inventive, this style reminds me of Tool "undertow" as well.....

great song!
bass guitar parts are strong and supportive, some of the mix seems a little bass light, but this could be mp3.....

cool tune.....now i know i hav said this before..but you sound (voice)..alot like maynard from tool.....i mean really its strange how much...cool!...
man this is mixed reeeaaallly good....how many tracks is this?...cool...3/4 time .....at around4:00..the screaming part very cool...man i have noactual"advise" for you...i mean come on..this is great really...you dont need much more than a contract....

great job

:) SLuiCe, that's an awesome original, sounding song. I wish I could hear more songs like this on the radio. Makes me want to go and record.
Thanks for the inspiring song..............Joe Recorder

THIS IS IMPRESSIVE! Ya bastard, too much talent. ;) :D
You definitely don't need my advice, so I'll just rave about you. The production on this is great. Nothing lacks, the dynamics are COOL. And these are some of the best programmed drum tracks I've heard, though still noticeable in the fills. I would so love to hear those drums on a kit (I'm a drummer, sorry I won't bring that up again :o )
Awesome bass and guitar lines and some nice playing. And your voice just ROCKS, Tool fan? GOOD STUFF, thanks for posting it. This is only the second piece of yours I've heard, but you've definitely got a fan here :D

Roger Waters Meets Jim Morrison?

Kickin' vocals, very artistic. Still listening.....

Love It

Hey, sounds great. I am new to this board and hearing this gets me motivated. Very clean, I wish I could get my stuff that clean. Very nice depth in your mix. Everthing had plenty of room to breath, my stuff seems to get to tight too fast. Oh well, thanks for the inspiration. Gonna check out some more of your stuff.
