I've been a musician for 11 years now doing shows and performances and am just now looking into starting my own recording of music. However I do not have the first idea as to what mics to look into, or even for that matter what else I would need to buy to be able to create my own audio files --> make videos to upload etc. Any advice on where to look, what to buy, and how to actually go about the recording process would be greatly appreciated!

read the sticky-ed threads at the top of the Newbies section of the forum on Computer Recording and Newbies FAQ. What you are asking is too broad, you need to do some reading first.
 
It is essential to know at least what kind of music you do, what instrument you play and if you sing as well :)
