Hooking up this Midi stuff CAN'T be THAT complicated.. but for me.. it is.

This is what I am trying to acomplish. I have a Juno-106 and want to use it to control MelloSoftTron on my computer. I have an SBAudigy Platinum card that has Midi In and Midi Out on the breakbox and it has a joystick port in the back of the PCI Slot car dif I wanted to go that route. I am trying it with Midi cables to the breakbox right now.

MelloSoftTron seems to be working when I play it with the mouse or the computer keyboard but I cant get the notes to trigger from the Juno-106.

I also have Reaktor but haven't been successful at using it. However Reaktor has MidiMonitor program that I useed to see if I was getting Note On and Note Off signals and I am. So I can see the computer is reading what the Juno is doing atleast.

I have NO experience with Midi so this is getting very frustrating to me. I have tried recording in ACID Pro3 with Midi and the meter shows no signal level. I dont know if I have the drivers are all screwy or what. I can't tell!!! grrrrrr... I am currently using the kX drivers but I don't know exactly how to configure them with the Midi In and Midi out. I hope this makes sense to someone..

thanx

Go to www.creativelabs.com and make you sure you have the latest drivers installed including any seperate midi drivers if they have them. How do you have your midi cables routed?

Since I am using the Breakbox, it has the 2 Midi ports. In and Out. So I have the Midi Out from the Juno to the Midi In on the box and then the Midi out on the box to the Midi In on the Juno.

You have your cables setup correctly. Try the drivers and let me know if that helps.

since I am only trying to trigger. Do I actually need both cables hooked up and do I need to set the Midi In and Midi Out or do I just need to figur eout the Midi In?

Your correct. If you just want to trigger all you need is keyboard out to computer in.

ok, I am going to try and reinstall the drivers and see whats if that changes things

ok.. it works now :) HOWEVER, ther eis a tiny bit of latency .. ugh.. can this be fixed?

Check all of your driver and software settings. There often is a latency setting that for some reason may default to pretty high.
