Hi there,

I have just had a go at mixing a short verse, could you tell me what you think? I didn't record these tracks, so there not mine, i just simply had a go at mixing. After listening back through my computer speakers, i feel that i should have made the vocals jump out abit more. but anyway. Thanks for feedback.

Catchy pop tune. I think your instincts at getting the feel to the song are good. Kind of a short segment to do a good review. Tight performances. Good low end - appropriate for the genre.

The guitars as kind of glassy sounding. Not a nice crunchy sound.

The lead vocal sounds bone dry and is set apart from the rest of the tracks.

I think you could turn up your drum overheads/cymbals.

Hi,

Thanks man for the feedback. Yeah i know it's short i will have ago at the whole track now. I did think the overheads needed turning up, but they kept clipping, is more compression needed on them? or? and also yeah i agree about the vocals, what would you suggest? EQ? adding some reverb at the end?

And the guitars? how can i fix that?

Sorry im a real beginer, don't really have the concept of eveything yet.

Cheers.

On the overheads... If you can't turn them up, turn everything else down. You can always put a limiter on the final mix to get the overall volume of the mix up.

On the guitars... to me you just need better source sounds. tell us about what you're using. What guitar? Amp? mic? amp sims? Are you perhaps using a solid state amp?

On the vocal... maybe treat it with a small amount of a small room reverb? Just a thought.

Song's got lots of potential. Mix is a mess, but whatever, that's what it's supposed to be for a while.

Guitars - harsh, bad tone. I'd start there to improve. Get the tones right from the beginning. Spend a lot of time recording guitar tones and see what you like. The second guitar is super fuzzy and undefined. Spend lots of time on getting the tone and learning how they sound recorded.

Bass - sounds pretty good to me. Could work really well, hard to tell from this mix.

Vocals could use some reverb. Nice performance and tone.

The volumes of everything in the mix is pretty good. Again it's hard to tell with the guitar tone and other mix issues.

keep plugging away and it'll be fun!
