This is before and after some compression..

What do you think of the difference? Do you hear any loss in quality of the louder version?

The louder version doesn't sound quite as natural as the original to my ears. In other words, I'm hearing the compression (along with an increase in background effects) not the natural decay of the drums. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, I would try reducing the release of the compressor, or go with a limiter (fast attack and release) if it's level that you want.

Hmm, sounds like separate mixes to me. There's a guitar track on the left in the before that's not there in the after. There seems to be more delay/reverb in the after as well.

[edit]
You did more than compress that first track. No matter how hard I stomp on it, there's no way to make that staccato guitar part on the left disappear. I tried. You have 2 different mixes there. Maybe you grabbed the wrong file.

Yes, I'm aware that the mixes are a little different. I took out a track that I didn't like.. Sorry for not informing you of that.

Alright, I'll try the tip, Masteringhouse.

Good ear, HangDawg.

Those don't even sound like they came from the same mix...

[EDIT] Okay, next time I'll read the rest of the thread first. :o
