Hi HomeRecording community! I
I want to switch my Rode k2 with Neumann tlm 103 and keep it like one year until i get money for neumann u87ai , but, will this change bring some better differences in recorded vocals for male rappers ?
I hear that tlm 103 sux and also people say its very good, but yet i dont have money for avalon 737 or any other 1500$+ preamplifier and i dont feel like i need to switch my ua 610 solo so... :) I'm looking for big full sound and i hope tlm 103 has it because its NEUMANN (TADAAA)
What you guys and chicks think is it worth spending 1000 euros on this mic?

Whys that? Shure is dinamic microphone can sound better in some situations and can probably handle more louder sources then condesers but how can 200$ mic compare to 500$ (rode) and 1000$ (neumann) ? :S It's seems like everyone uses sm7 but when i watch studio sessions people have condenser mics... and sm7 is ugly, doesn't have that professional look for my public studio.

funny.......so what you're saying is.........what are you saying?

...save your Rode for "looks" and buy yourself an SM7 for recording...don't get caught up in the "hype"...the SM7 is used in every major pro-studio around the world..."looks" are deceiving...great mic for intimate vocals (as in Rap/Hiphop)...besides, the K2 (with a good NOS tube upgrade) is a better all-around mic than the TLM103 (IMHO)...
