have been recording for about 4 months now and just getting the feel of this stuff (the begining of the end?!?!?!).
anyway, am using pro audio 9 with a audiophile 2496 and have been laying down tracks like a madman...both audio and midi...and suddenly my computer doesn't recognize ANY audio
tracks!
it will play and record any midi for me, but i cannot hear any audio tracks or record any audio.
when i click on my m audio icon i get nothing...cant get to the mixer.
when i go to "source" in the track view, i used to have options of
"left stereo", "right stereo", "stereo"," midi omni", "midi channel 1" and so on.....but now all of the "stereo" options don't show up,
(this accounts for me not being able to record (i think) but not the hearing of already recorded stuff?).
called hewlwtt packard help, and they walked me thru resetteing the compuer to a previous date and time but it did not restore the audio recognition.
went to "add/remove hardware" and removed the soundcard
(not physically...should i?) and reinstalled it...didn't work.
any help appreciated...benir sur vous!

Is the audiophile the only card you have installed?

Are you able to get any sounds from sound card? For example, launch Windows Media Player and try and play a wave file.

If you can't get any sounds at all, it sounds like an issue with your sound card and/or drivers. I would suggest physically pulling out the sound card and manually deleting all the drivers. Don't just remove the card in Control Panel, actually delete the driver files. M-Audio has a driver uninstaller program that will do this for you.

Then replug your audio card and reinstall the drivers. Hopefully that will fix it. Otherwise you might have a bad sound card.
