Comp CD ( could use some quick feedback)

I have a few hours to make any changes.. Any quick mix thoughts are appreciated..

It has that "Samij" sound that others wish they could get.
Since I hate rap, I don't care for that aspect of it but the music is happenin'. You've got that big, huge, dark sound with the mysterious interludes.....it's always cool.
Sorry I don't have any mix comments but, for me, once mixes reach a certain level of 'goodness', then mix changes become personal opinion and your mixes have long since passed that point.
It's hard for me to do much critiquing of your stuff 'cause I'm too busy enjoying it.
 
I haven't listened yet, but you don't have to express mail anything. The deadline is just to have it postmarked by the 31st. The actual cutoff is gonna' be like another month from now, to give regular mail from all over the planet enough time to get to Montana.

Anyway, just trying to relieve a little stress. Going to listen now.
 
Sounds ready to me... the only thing that comes to mind is that you might think about shaving some of the highs off of that snare. I don't know what Slack's gonna' do in terms of mastering, but the whole mix is pretty pinned, so he shouldn't have to do much. Still a great remake.

[edit] The only reason I mention the highs is b/c I usually can't hear much in that area, and I can hear them in this mix, so they HAVE to be loud, right?...lol
 
Dude, everything is very crisp and clean. Wish my recordings were that sweet. Not a real big fan of the genre', but I can appreciate the work you obviously put into it! Damn good job. Hell yes, mail that puppy!

mixwise. the vocals are very spot on. guitar solo is perfect. the backing guitars (the crunchy stuff) could use a little more meat to them and the bass drum sits very low (eq) in this mix. too low for my taste but that's prolly what you're going for. i'd check that on a system with the bass boost on just to make sure you're not too heavy in the ultra low band.

Nice production ideas w/ the vocs. I dig the split to stereo......nice. Nice groove in this too. Im guessing that youre gonna get alot of ozzy comparisons on this one... especially for the "im flying" part. ......thats a good thing. I dig the rappin..... all of these vocs work for me....... again, great voc. production ideas.
If i had to bitch it would be for bass. i dont mean lows...... youve got plenty of that, but rather for defined bass, having that might punch up some of the stuff youve got going on even more.

As usual, I love the changes in this. Pretty intense stuff. I listened on phones and the mix sounded good there (they usually do on phones, though ... you'll get better advice from others on this)

A different tune for sure. I say if you are happy with it, then go for it.

All I can say is .... IT ROCKS!

well....some of my quick thoughts usually contain a visual...most of the times, they'll be a female in that visual....

close up...distant...usually doesn't matter...the thought is still there....

gotta shove it thru some effects and add some reverb...so the instructions say!! I love it!! WASH IT IN REVERB!!! I had to dig a cassette player out to listen to it though... dang...instructions on a cassette!! what a trip!!... !! !! <---- !!

I also gotta sustain pedal (pno. style) for my synths... to replace my cheesy sowing machine kind. I'm uptown now!!

ok.. here goes...

I think it lacks some bass.. other than that, it has the quality you usually have. Tho I don't think the song it's up to par with your other songs.. (e.g. disrepair, which I still listen to a lot).

Still cool.. you know what you're doing.. :)
 
Sounds great from here Sam,I like the vocal work you did on this,very intense.
I say go for it.

Well-I'm late but no matter, I doubt I could help you in any case this sounds great-I like the way the drums sit--The "hardcore" kinda sections kick ass--reminds me of Atari teenage riot--(check out some of there stuff if you've never heard em)--the usual cool breaks and stops to keep things interesting--very confident vocal delivery--some cool rapid delivery and pseudo-rappish kinda stuff-a telephone voice here a distorted scream there-here a harmony there a....Really great performances all around nice guitar action-your rhythym tone is great as usual-the I guess whammy pedal stuff is excellent--very interesting listen-no complaints.
 
Sounded really good. Great scream at 1:30. All performances are spot on.

The only thing you might want to listen to is it seems in the "almost rap" sections the snare and highhat are interfering a little with the vocals. This seems especially so in the first of those sections. A very minor thing, but you might want a little EQ cut.

That last section at the end ("I'm flying etc.....") was quite cool.

Not my style, but after a few listens it has grown on me more than I would have expected. I like the rapping (phrasing and speed) and I like the screams!

As usual, the rest is great - guitars, vocals, drums, mix, etc.

Send it in.
 
First off, thanks for making it easy to file downloads of your MP3's without having to rename them. I just drop them right into my Sam folder.

I know you'd want me to pack one, so I'll be right back, and then I'll try to make sense.
