Howdy fellow musiciareenos.

I've just spent the last few hours remixing, remastering and adding a new drum track to one of my bands tracks.

If anyone could give me any feedback on if it's an improvement that would be great. We're trying to get all of our tracks sounding good enough for a demo cd, but each and every one has its own little issues that need to be sorted out.

2 issues that I think I can hear if anyone can confirm them,
the bass drum seems a bit distant in places, and perhaps the drum kit as a whole seems a bit far in the background.
I've heavily compressed the vocals, but I think it may have made them a tad jarring to the ear.

If you have the time to give it a listen, Thanks! I appreciate it.

You're correct in your description. THe heavy compression on the vocals isn't quite enough to make it "weird or quirky" but too much to be an attempt at treating a problem. If you've still access to the original track you should either go for broke or back off somewhat.
The drums are a bit too far back &/or the guitars to far up front.
Apart from that all sound pretty good.
Tweak away.

well, I'd say it's certianly good enough for a demo... with songs like these, I'm a firm believer in having that kick and snare WAY up in the mix. I'd back the guitars down, and get the drums up near the vocal level. It sounds like there's a lot of tom work going on in the drums in the verses - if they weren't mic'ed during tracking, it might be tough to get that to cut through.

but for a demo... if you're just using it to get gigs... it's plenty good enough.
