You should make a copy with the dirty a tad louder and brighter, and everything panned more towards the middle in the chorus and let me hear it... :) scratch my itch, man!

My apologies...

Someone turned down my soundcard volume and I didnt know it, so I'd say your take is probably pretty loud... my fault... :)

I'll give that a try, Tubedude.
If it works out for the better, I'll let you know.
I'm going to fiddle around with some of the other suggestions, too.

BTW, "Angel Child" has reached #14 on the AAA/Adult Alternative charts @ MP3-dot-com and is still climbing!!! Woo hoo! :)

Thanx to everyone here who has listened and commented.
You guys are the BEST! ;)

"He'd rather die on his feet than live on his knees."

Taken out of it's "evil" context, it's probably similar to:

"Better to live one day as a lion than a lifetime as a lamb".

I think it means he'd rather die "in action" than live "safely".

Am I right? Thought it was a great line.

As for the song, I didn't think there was anything wrong with it, other than personal preference things. I would have "planned out" the lead guitar by probably using some consistent themes. Also, I would have used a second lead in harmony - in certain places - with the main lead. A different guitar sound on the latter lead would have been interesting. I know it's personal preference, but I'm not into that fuzzy guitar sound - that's just me.

All in all, a fine track - original approach which is always a plus in my books. Maybe I'll get the nerve up to post something soon.

Dude, I'm sorry I didn't repond sooner...... duh!
(....actually I've been busy with a newborn baby boy ;) )
Thanx much for listening and commenting on our song!
That's quite a compliment about this song having an "original approach".... THANX! :)
We tried to play it and mix it so it would come out that way.
The more original a song sounds, the more memorable it is, right?
The cool thing is... of all the songs on our mp3-dot-com page, "Angel Child" is the song that gets almost all of the downloads.
It seems that most of the people who have listened to the song have ended up downloading it. That's just plain awesome! :)

You're pretty close on what I meant by the line... "He'd rather die on his feet than live on his knees".
More specifically, it means that these kids want to die in a self-perceived "blaze of glory", rather than live their life being constantly picked-on and mocked by others.

We may actually make a major change to this song in the next few weeks. I can't say what it is, but suffice to say, it will change the song for the better. ;)
Thanx again!

What an absolutely awesome recording! I was also
very happy to find that it was recorded at 96k 24 which
makes an excellent statement for the higher resolution
recording.

great arrangement, and I like the vocal stlye. If I was
just listening just as a music fan I would not change a thing.

But :) from a engineering standpoint, and I had to listen
a couple of times for this...the drums at the beginning were
ever so slightly off.....when everything else joins in it is not
detectable at all.

I can understand what you were trying to do with guitar
but I dont think it needed a hard left and right pan. Im
not listening to it on headphones but I can tell that it
would be distracting and this recording doesnt need that
kind of distraction. Maybe a 10 oclock 2 oclock pan with
a touch of reverb on the left channel. On another listen,
the guitar in the left channel could probably use a low pass
filter maybe try at 15k because I "feel "the brightness
in that channel causing it to stick out too much. This would
definitely be a digital recording type effect because digital can
capture the higher frequencies whereas analog tape could not.
You may find that it actually becomes smoother when you roll it
down some.

Just noticed that all of high frequency stuff is panned to the
left...you could move the high hat to the right side..to give
the mix some balance..rolling off the high highs might still be the
thing to do ...

Just somethings to consider...if you didnt change a thing
I think you would be just fine.. :)

Great work!!!!

Hi, I.ve listened a couple of times to The Guitar song, I can hear a tick, from where I dont know, mic feedback I'd say, its at about 2.0 and 3.20 as well. Also I'd like to hear the drum before the last chorus or verse, wherever it is that it just hits strokes t t t t gently I'd like it louder to feel it more I guess..ignore me if I don't make sense. Overall top stuff, hope I can achieve such clear sound :)

Woah! Thanx, man!

Cool.....
That's quite a compliment. :)

Besides me and my partner, you're the first one to notice.
Good ears! ;)

As for your other suggestions, I think you make some good points... all of which are obviously based on experience.
Jeez, you didn't miss a thing in pinpointing the areas you thought could use improvement. That's the kind of suggestions we've been looking for.
This probably won't be the "final" mix of this song. I'm going to try some of the suggestions that were made by you and a few others. ;)
With a few more attempts, we might get it a little closer to "aural nirvana" than it is right now.

Thanx again!

Katziis...

Thanx much for listening. :)
I'll have to give The Guitar Song a hard listen to hear what you are talking about, but I'm guessing it might be my hi-hat.
We recorded that song on my "old" equipment.... a Korg D-8 and crappy cables, cheapo mic's, and we mixed it on a cheap bookshelf stereo system.
Unfortunately, that's all we had to work with at the time and that was our first effort at digital-recording.
We were thinking of re-recording The Guitar Song on the new 24 bit/96 kHz equipment that I have since purchased, along with some better mic's and cables.
I think you may have provided us with the inspiration to do that! ;)
