Hey Nick, sounds pretty cool! Did you record any bass, or am I just missing it in my laptop speakers? Also, the rhythm track sounds like an acoustic guitar. Did you try it with a nice clean Strat sound?

Nice soloing as well. What was your set up for the leads?

Chris

Nice job, Nick. Bass is kind of hidden in the really low sounds. The vocals sit really well. How did you recoed and mix them? Nice lead tone. Seems the only real complaint I would have, is the bottom is a bit mushy. You lose some of the kick to the kick. Bass is a bit hidden. Othere than that, cool tune.

I can hear the bass in my headphones......

The playing/singing is very good too - pass my compliments on to the band.

What is the guitar player using - it sounds great!

Nice use of verbs/effects and fade out...

Very nice mix Nick, nice and clean, clear, balanced and panned.

Sounds pretty sweet man, nice job.

Hey not to be a na-sayer but Gunther will delete that cover off of his site when he finds it. (copyright rules) Just a heads up.

The music sounds good but the vocals sound like Green Day trying to do Pink Floyd.

alright thanks boys and maybe some girls??

yeah ill be turning the bass up

uhhh the lead tone was made using a Fender Princeton Chorus (Red Knob Special) and a strat .. obviously

no pedals were involved

Up the bass as said before.
Do you have any synths, some synth strings in both verse and refrain, especially refrain needs the dididede-dididede strings.

Graet playing, cut some of the lower freqs on the guitar solo it a bit to much in the front. maybe verb it abit more as well.

If you dont have strings, use Long dark Fulldistrotion on the verse chords, just pick the chord and let it hang.
Not to loud, but kinda like they did it on the Pulse live album.

Great work, writing this as I listen, and now for the favorite part the solo outro.
Get some delay on it, just some quick slapback, so its hanging a bit more.
and the eq.
it would also be cool if the drummer marks the different rythmic parts of the guitar solo on the kit.

I just love this song, its one of my all time faves, I`ve played and sung this song probbably a hundered times, and I started playing this song at 16 myself and I wasent anywere near as good as you guys are.

Great work, on a great tune, Youre really talented. :)

You can make one cello sound like many if you record the same parts over and over, maybe angle the mic differently.
Just as suggestion, looking forward to hear that done.
keep me posted please :)

alright yeah good idea

i hope the player is up for playin it over and over lol

just recrod the player, and after each take you say, you have to do better than this, after he\she`s played each part ten times you say.
Thats it, great job. you will record everypart offcourse :D

clever eyh :D

....am listening right now.....like the sound......
There's something especially chilling about hearing this angelic young voice singing these lyrics....

This sounds really nice. It has a mellow richness much like the original. Excellent guitar work, Nick!

Let us know when the updated mix is up.

Also, I got a lot of clipping, especially near the end. What do you use to record and mix with?

thanks for all the comments everyone

i use Sony Vegas 6

What really stands out on this, other than the lazy lead(kicks butt), is the drums. I love the sound of them.

I agree about the vocals sounding like Greenday doing Floyd, but hey, I likie!!!

:D NIce mix Nick. For 16, you got your chit togather.

TRUE :)

lol thanks true

yeh its a half way matured voice lol but maybe someday he'll grow into that voice box

thanks

many adjustments have been made thanks to all of you

the bass has been turned up

i also raised the kick drum to make up for some of the lacking low end

we added a string section just playing the chords (Ratshak keyboard) suprisingly not too bad but ill let everyone here be the judge if it should stay or go or whatnot

i put some fast slap back delay on the 2nd solo and verbed the 1st one more (thanks naka)

and i feel like there is more but thats all i can think of right now

anyways we are gonna try to put the duh na na na parts in with the keyboard and if they sound bad (which they most likely will) we are gonna try to get the cello player in here to do the parts .... but otherthan all of that things are sounding pretty good once we do the cello parts ill repost it and let you guys analyze again ... its been very helpful!
