yes, a drummer, but also a budding multifuntion music machine. well almost ;) I play guitar and bass and now need to pick up a cheap keyboard to fill in the background cracks and maybe throw in a few piano parts here and there.

can anyone point me in the right direction of what i need? like maybe a make or model for an older keyboard i could find on ebay or somthing? I know nothing about them and want to get the best for my buck. and I'm not talking many bucks here either. somthing with a respectfull enough sound....mostly good strings and background stuff?
I don't do midi, cus frankly, it scares the crap out of me! no I just record live audio with keyboards....don't laugh!
anyone got anything like this for sale maybe?

thanks.....

Yo 2112 of the Signal World:

I suggest you go to a keyboard store; there must be at least one in Maine?

We have a joint here called Keyboard World and they sell all types, used, new, digital, etc.

I'm waiting to get another keyboard I just ordered; a Korg SP-100 [stage piano digital]

If you want a report on that keyboard, you can let me know at my E-address:

Benmocini@aol.com

I use a Yamaha DX-7 in my studio but the learning curve on that board was about three years; the Korg would be much simpler for you to start or something used and similar to a stage piano.

no, maine sucks all around for that stuff, I laughed out loud when you mentioned it.
there is only two stores around here and they have next to nothing, mostly new stuff, used is exreemly!!! hard to find around here.
so ebay really is my only hope for that...

thanks lantern....

Korg has a model called the Xd5 or X5d which is compact and has decent sounds.I mention this one because it's a discontinued model so I've seen them brand new in stores for like $499.Or else there's the Yamaha PSR series, most of these are designed for beginner players and they have features that make life easier for you.You don't need MIDI for either of these, but at the same time I would encourage you to not be "scared" of MIDI,at your own pace ,as you start to learn it,it can be your friend, even for drum stuff! Cheers!
