columns in basement-what to do?

I'm finally moving out of my trusty home studio into a small buiding i just bought a few weeks ago. this is the culmination of months (years?) of planning. Now I have to get the studio together -- overwhelming.

Anyway, I'm putting it in the basement, it's basically 25x50 ft. There are columns every 8 feet or so, I've designed some of them into the walls, but there are a couple that I can't avoid. What's involved with replacing them with a steel beam or something else?
 
VERY expensive jonothon. Try to design them into the walls where possible as you've done and just box around the others so your structure is isolated from them.
