Im gettin ready to paint the inside of my practise/recording room and I was just wondering what color was mostly used to create a relaxing, inspirational environment as possible.
Thanks,
Jim

yellow with orange stripes!

Seriously, check out Blue Bear's den of sound, it's got a pretty sweet color scheme going on.

It's completely subjctive stuff. My room has red walls, aqua ceilings, black carpet, gold cutains and gloss black sprinkler pipes. Most of my instruments are vintage, my recording desk is made from an antique table. Mostly it sounds like it would be hellish on paper but it feels warm, comfortable and vast. The walls embrace you, the ceiling disappears and the carpet allows me to control the light. I can make an area go away by just keeping it dark.

I tend to work fast so cable/stand chaos can develop quikly if I'm trying different mic's, amps or instruments for a part. Sometimes the mess can be distracting. I can darken the area and leave it set up without getting bogged down by the mess if I need to move on to something else for awhile.

That's just me. Paint it colors that you like. If you like cool, modern, clean airy spaces then go light. If you like warmer, cozy places then darker. I wanted something that felt completely unlike any other place I spend my time. I love my room and spend hour after hour working in it.

Cogratulations for getting to this point. I was thrilled to death when I was ready to paint.

Good luck, RD

Dethska, uhh, you gotta link to Blue Bear? I did a search but nadda.
rcktgd, First off, let me say thank you for the congrats, youre right about being thrilled to death, its been a long time waiting. As far as color goes, I like the atmosphere of a live sound stage, most Ive seen have been mostly black, I like this because it pushes the impact of the instruents to the front and is not distracting. So, I was thinking painting the walls and ceiling semi-gloss black (knightfly says Im goth with a death wish lol) and a multi color dark carpet. Im just not sure yet and am looking for suggestions.
Thanks,
Jim

I've always thought that theater lobby's had the coolest color and lighting schemes.
You're in Austin; check out the lobby of the theater that's in Barton Creek Mall.
Its similar in color to what I'm going to use.

Purples and reds are known to help with creativity.

I always liked aqua, midnight blue and a serious deep gray as a combination.
