you guys are among the 'elite of the elite' around here... so I was eager to hear this. For some reason, I am not able to stream, and have to D/L....for you guys...no big deal. I know it will be worth it.

well...still D/ling....so I haven't listened yet (I am a first listen/type person usually....)

sloooow d/l....

I'll be back...

ok...got it...and listening.

very nice clean sound. How did you guys solve the "problem" of who is mixing!;)

This gives a whole new slant to slucie's singing/tunes, and I suppose that's you Jeff strummin' away. ...and the keys too?

anywayz...I'll be anxious to hear the lowdown on what's happening, and if this is a work in progress, the finished product should blow my socks off.

This clinic makes me google-eyed sometimes... sometimes it really sucks...but this is a google-eye feel. I like it. I'd buy this CD on the same trip as the one where I'm picking up Samicide's..

oh...and if this clinic ever spawned a "band"...or got members together musically on a professional level.... you guys would match up great hearing your other stuff. It'd be great...I feel confident my ears are telling me that it would be a great matchup.

I downloaded this as soon as it was put on the front page of nowhereradio a little while ago and was really impressed.I agree with MIXMKR about you guys being a great match for a band deal.

This just has something top notch about it in it's early stages. This is definetly raising the bar for the quality of stuff posted in the clinic.

This long distance collab thing is hauling ass at rocket speed.Im confident that a major chart buster will happen in the near future involving collabs, where the musicians have never even met face to face........technology is a trip.

haha...hey man I'm not finished! hehe that's ok.

Man this has some great guitar. It's a cool challenge to try to sing with this tune and let those guitars shine through. And at the same time, when I got his music, the melodies just jumped right of his guitar work. I had this in my head a lot the last couple days.

I'm thinking of adding a few small drum elements, but I don't think it needs much more instrumentation...he did a real nice job of that! Thanks for the invitation Jeff :D

Ahh..... this is absolutely sweet.... love those stretches you do on vox, SLuiCe... the music is beautiful... just a smidge of bass boominess... prolly only 10 Hz worth somewhere near 100 (a narrow cut)...

Damn... aren't we the luckiest f*cks, getting all this excellent, free music to listen to ... and all we have to do is give a critical ear? :) Wonderful... you guys in this place are going to fill a 4th disk of stuff here very soon ;)

This will sound excellent anywhere it's played. How do you DO it, Tom? (My mix doesn't sound good on walkmans or in the car... but yours? Fo-gettabout it! ;))

JMarcomb... what needs to be said? You're a helluva musician (goes without saying) and the recording is tight.

Very nice.

Chad

I listened...then i listened again. Man you guy's sound friggin great! The recording and mix was super dupper too...wow

............fuck!

........man, if this aint a great single........

This fits like a glove man. .....Tom, that is one serious melody line, and delivery. And jeff, Very very nice guit work and music. I take it that the arrangement was complete before the collab took place. You cant tell. This sounds as if the music and vocals were written together. This is beyond words man... the mix is great, the performances are great............ ......this is one of THE best things i have heard in this forum.

Incredible work fellas........... a world class piece of music.

...................wow

.............wow

......,

................................................................................wow!

You call this a "work in progress" !!?? Sound's more like an established single ready for air-play!!! Your acoustic is extremely
well-defined providing an excellent enhancement of the over-all flow of this smooth jammie!!
Thought the singer experienced a tad difficulty covering the upper range of the chorus, but that's prob'ly caused by the beer and vodka chasers I've been quaffing!

IMHO, this is a superb production that shouldn't be labeled as a
"work in progress"!!

Im pissed I cant download this?????
Kill Kill Kill Kill Kill Kill Kill.

wow....great sound.....
i am breaking my own "rule" about not listening to stuff while in the process of recording myself.....but if this influences me in any way that will be a good thing.
"i know you mean well well enough to leave well alone"....very cool.....great job...this outta set me back a coupla weeks at least:D

thanks
jamal

This is really Jeff's tune, so I'll let him do any individual responses. But I wanted to say thanks for the encouragement from you dudes. My job here was just to lay down some singing over Jeff's excellent playing. So I downloaded his finished arrangement Thursday over-night, then Friday after work I put the vocals together for a couple hours over fine beer from Vermont. Long Trail Auburn Ale- try some.

The instruments already had a nice flow. Then I linked Jeff to the MP3 so he could see where I was after the first afternoon, and next thing I know, it's up on the board.

Most of the mixing was already taken care of by Jeff, I basically just slid my vocals over it and did a few other minor adjustments. I didn't know we'd be sharing this today :D

Thanks again Jeff....we'll have to do this again sometime. I'll let you know when I do some more with this tune. I still haven't listened to my tracks with fresh ears yet....

And thanks guys!

Nice stuff, guys. Jeff, I have heard you play before, and you play a very sweet guitar. Good luck with this.

good God that is good.. I expected a lot, and got it.. I only have a minute for a quick comment..

JMarcomb - you are great..

SluiCe - you are great..

together you guys are great x2..

a truly excellent performance and recording..

you both make me sick.. :)

I'll mention the negatives later!

ooooh man!! that is really pretty. My lil' soundblaster would be beside the road with the hood up and on fire trying to be that clean and natural sounding... I absolutely am entralled with the flavor..

A wonderful composition!

Excellent blend of instruments, and sounds. A simple arrangement that has enough suprises in it to keep me at the edge of my seat!

This can be put up against anything out there for quality, and performance!!

Great job by both!!!
Thanks for Posting !

Joel

oops.. i wasnt supposed to post the song yet :)

you guys are awsome for giving such encouraging words!
this music definitley has a different style to it... mellow music with cutting vocals.
last weekend i showed sluice 3 ideas .. one song was driven by heavy electric guitar one was
new age/dance?.. i thought this song would sound the most unique/catchy considering sluices vocal style.
when I first listened to the song after sluice put down the vocals... I heard his first two lyrics and they sounded r&b
then the next word jumped into his vocal register... wow.. how creative.. and the lyrics.. its soo cool to work with a great sounding singer.

mixmkr

thanks mix!
first, we were at a great advantage from the start because we are virtually running the same equiptment. The best part is we are both running Sonar and have high speed internet connections to transfer full mixs. i dont think it gets better than that in the collaboration world. we were very lucky in that respect.
i have noticed with each song that my mixes keep getting cleaner and cleaner.... it really just boils down to knowing which knob to turn now. 10 months ago i was reading up on how to use reverb properly ... and now i still dont know how to use it! :)
boy.. that would be great to start a band and do some world touring :) i guess time will reveal those answers. band practice will have to be virtual because the distance between chicago and maine is not a lobster through away :)

Kramer

Hey Kramer... thats very cool that you enjoyed it. Yeah... computers are very weird... what would Mosart think of all this? the collaborations that i have heard on this board are great... and if everybody keeps working hard I think your right about the success end of it. Ive got to the point where I make myself play everyday so I have a better chance at a music career. I took off Thurs of my day job to work on this song... that tells you a little bit of the dedication level. :)

participant

yeah.. sluice has some pipes on him. :) we are still working on the mix so ... Im sure there will be a little bit of eqing here and there. hmmm... i never did think about that.. you are getting this music for free! Im getting on the horn with riaa! :) oh... dont forget to buy another hard drive..
thanks

David

Thanks David- appreciate the time out for the listen.

G

you should show some enthusiasm when you speak.. hehe. :) yeah i worked out the melody last weekend and I sent him a music clip a few days day to practice over and then I sent the final cut and he took a couple hours after work to lay the vox down. as you know toms a cool guy and easy to work with, so it really was a piece of cake. next song will be electricaly guitar driven ;) I was listening to your tune again and think its great... lots of potential!
thanks again man!

MISTERQCUE

:) "established single ready for air-play" :) ... i wish - this song can definitley be polished up a little better... like I was using open-ended earphones to do overdubs and they are bleeding all over the song  you have to listen hard , but theyre there. so I'll be taking a few more stabs at thoughs.
I gave a listen to your mixs you have and Im a big fan of smooth jazz, so that was a treat to listen to.. Thanks for sharing.

demensia

i hope you can download know ... the internet can be satanic sometimes

jamal buchet

im glad you liked! I think that its important to listen to other music while working on your own. Its a great way to "readjust" your ears and you can get some really great mix ideas. limiting yourself to your own song is doing just that. I hope your tunes comes out really great... good luck to ya!

dtd

thanks for tuning in

Sluice

Long Trail Auburn Ale ... hmmm... I'lll have to try some of that :) Im a fan of Hacker Pschorr or Franziskaner Weissbier.... very tasty ... im open for the ale though. mate. :)

dachay2tnr

im a fan of your tunes also. very enjoyable to listen to. good luck with you also.

B.SABBATH

thanks man.... i have yet to see a rude person around here. I wish it was like this when im driving down the road :)
man... you gobs of talent, i try to look at other peoples mixes and say .. how can this sound better. that really sets yourself up for a goal, which i believe is very important.
Oh no... dont leave the negatives later.. lets hear the positives :)
thanks again man!

Toki987

Haha... that is pretty funny.. I needed an afternoon chuckle! :) Just make sure you have slick50 in the card before you run it! ;)
Thanks!
