Clouds or Primary Reflection Point???

Currently I have 2 2"x2'x4' bass traps on the ceiling above my mixing area, and only a 2"x2'x2' on the wall (primary reflection). Would I be better off moving the over-head clouds to the primary reflection wall?

I've thought about building some more traps, but I wouldn't need a full bundle and my local source only sells 703, 12 sheets at a time. So I'm trying to get by with what I have.
 
I'd leave it the way it is - but if you expect the cloud to do bass absorbtion, it needs to be at least 4" thick.

Thanks. Easier that way, but now I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better off taking the two 2" clouds and making one 4" trap. I'd loose surface area but gain bass absorption.

If it matters. I currently have 5 4"x2'x4' traps. 3 are in wall/wall corners and two are in wall/ceiling corners.
 
Well, that's a tough call if you're stuck with a fixed amount of material. The real answer is that you need to do both. I'd say the decision would depend on the overall decay time right now, what frequencies you're having issues with, and what specifically is causing those issues.

Good point. I'm considering posting a thread and asking if anybody in So CA wants to go halves on a bundle of 703 with me. I really would like 6 more sheets. That way I COULD do both, double the thickness and keep the surface area. I've also considered using Safe'n'Sound from Roxul which I can get considerably cheaper than 703 and maybe even at a smaller qty.

Of course the more bass traps I add to my already small and cramped bedroom studio, the smaller the room seems to be getting ;)
