Closing Open Hi-hats

I'm sorry if this probably simple problem has been adressed before, but a search didn't help, and deja.com
is gone! And the FAQ's haven't mentioned it, as far as I can tell..

Problem:
Using a drum soundfont (SB Live) triggered from a midi keyboard, when I just
play live, the other hi-hat sounds close of the sound of the open hi-hat - like they're
supposed to. But after having recorded the MIDI track, the open hi-hat rings on
indefinitely. The very annoying thing is that the first time I played back the track, this
didn't happen. What did I do, and how do I undo it? Is it an RPN function, or
some setting in the midi settings of Cakewalk itself?

I don't think it's a Soundblaster problem (this time) as playing the soundfont directly has the desired effect.

The equipment in question:
Cakewalk Express,
Soundblaster Live, playing soundfonts (on channel 10)
Ancient Yamaha Claviona that I use for a midi controller.

I've had a sequencr glitch like that before -- the problem was an unwanted controller event that somehow got recorded. Check your midi track manually for spurious controller events that aren't supposed to be there... seems in your case the stop-note message wasn't being recorded or another midi control is overwriting it.... You may have channel crosstalk (where more than one midi message is being sent to the same channel).

Hope this helps...

Bruce
