Yes, I've done my ~~+ hours of reading [searching]........ :)

I'm looking for closed cans for home studio recording [where i'd like to hear accurate, low bass extension, clean sounds].....

having no regards to price......... which one's would best suit someone doing electronic music [not to heavy on acoustical instruments]...........

Senn 280 pro
Beyer 250 (80/250 ohm)
Sony V6/7506

Are there any other possible one's to consider?

also, even if the phones can be driven off the mixer/portable player's output, should it always be wiser to invest in an amp & use that always in conjunction with the headphones instead?

jmt cha-47 amp with any of the these?

i'm getting closer to narrowing it down! well, i guess not, but @ least my list is down from the 8+ i had before :)

any help and/or comments/suggestions are MUCH appreciated!!!!

Yo BAD of T & Z:

Cans? Cans you say? Heh, heh, I just love the Beyer cans as Roel would say from Belgium.

I have both the 250's and just got a pair of the 770's. Things sound great through them. I had a new set of Sony cans but sent them to a friend; I still have a couple sets of Senns hanging in my studio but just use the Beyer cans.

Nice lows; nice highs; nice sound field; just plain nice.

I've noticed some cans that sell for large dollars; can't imagine what else they could do for all that $$$? But, then, I've never heard the pricy cans.

Your needs may be, at least as stated, a bit contradictory. If you want good isolation and low bass extension, you will be sacrificing accuracy. Nothing wrong with that, just so you understand that you can't hype bass and be accurate at the same time. And usually open-style cans are far more accurate than closed, but not as useful for tracking.

The Sony 7509's are like the 7506's on steroids - gives you that pumped up bass (if you don't mind a little extra size and weight). You may want to check them out.

I just picked up the sony mdr-600, they seem to have a bit of a bass boost in them.
