clipping introduced by EQ cut, what the _____ ?

I'm EQing some master tracks that ended up bass heavy. The tracks had been ultramaxed and otherwise finished when I discovered the Mackie monitors I was using didn't like me.

I thought, no prob, rolled off some "lows", & ran it. The new mix clipped several places. I have my layla set at 0 levels according to echo. I am not boosting overall output with the plugin, its set @ zero also. I have tried SF's graphic and parametric, DSP/FX's parametric, TC Native's and Wave's EQs and they are all doing it to me.
I know I can overcome it by lots of options but it troubles my virgo type mentality, if you know what I mean?

I'm just cutting lows, nothing else, and I'm getting gain??

Can I apply this effect to my bank account?

First of all make sure the plug in itself doesn't add the level just by using it. I have seen this before.

My estimation is that you are "showing" other freq's that are now coming out
(but were covered before the cut).
This had a tendency to happen with a cut around 40Hz. when the freq's are not leveled out on the lows you can cause a lopsided "view" of the whole bottom end.

It can also be that your system is not clabirated well.
Other then that I can't think of a problem.
Can you write what was the exact cut you did? and what kind of EQ did you use?
