Pop/Click Removal

There is a tool in the Sound Forge Menu for this, but you may actually be better off zooming in on the area and either lowering the volume or deleting the offending signal.. If its small enough then you will not hear the missing peice or silence at normal playback speed.

There are de-clicking tools with SoundForge but I prefere to do it manually. Locate the click by ear, start expanding the waveform as you troll for the click visually. When you find it, it'll appear as one distinct vertical line or more. There are two ways I deal with these to make it go away invisibly. One way is to draw it out with the pencil tool. You have the click centered and the waveform expanded all the way, go to the tool bar at the top and select the tool that looks like a pencil. Now you can "draw" over the click and it's gone. Sometimes this doesn't make an inaudible edit though and you still may hear a small pop but greatly reduced from the original.
The other thing I do is to litterally cut the pop out and throw it away. I just highlight ONE COMPLETE CYCLE from zero crossing to zero crossing of the damaged waveform and delete it. 99% of the time, you'll never hear the missing cycle and the edit will be truly invisable. This is time consumming but the most effective way I know to remove pops and clicks without compromising the fidelity of the material.

Yes i sometimes still get a very very small pop when i edit a sample ,yet i think the only person who would notice would be the editor themself.
