hello folks, i have logic 7, a g4 imac 800, with a GIG of ram, motu 828. presonus digimax connected via lightpipe
ive been noticing im getting quite a bit of clicks and crackles during playback. i couldnt seem to figure it out, someone told me i could be running the main buss too hot, or i should increase my buffer size. i tried bringing down the levels, and i increased my buffer to the largest size possible, 1024 i think. and there are stiiiilll clicks, i even made a mixdown and transferred to a different computer, and they are still there in the mixdown, could the clicks and stuff be actually IN each audio file? is that possible? what should i do to get rid of them in the future?

I cant tell from your description, but are the clicks coming from the PC or your hardware. It seems you need to do a process of elimination to see where exactly where the problem is and is'nt.

I am with Massive on this. Sounds like there are two master clocks set:)

how do i change what master clock is set, i think that might be it, cuz i have the presonus and the motu hooked up via lightpipe, and i just kinda hooked them up together and started recording. can someone walk me though checking this?

im not exactly sure how to do this with your equipment, however, the presonus should be set to use the clock signal from the 828. that would be the typical way to do it. then again, the pre may have a better clock then the MOTU. which is which im not sure. do you have a decent s/pdif cable you are using to run the lightpipe? if you are using a cheesy radio shack optical cable you will most likely not be pleased with the results. another thing, too, is you really need to be using a power conditioner with your gear. clicks and pops run in the vein of nasty line voltage.
