Clicking Sound While Recording

I just got a new Sound Blaster 512pci cause I needed a sound
card that would stay in sync while recording with sfAcid and so
far it's doing that just fine. But a new problem arose when everything I try to record has a non-rhythmic clicking sound
in the background. I'm just running a normal guitar wire into a
1/4" to 1/8" converter into my sound card. Have you guys ever had this problem? I've tried different sample rates while recording, different wires, different mics and nothing works.
Whats going on? WHAT IS THIS CLICKING??!!!

try to mute all other sources than the one you're using.. I sometimes have a click from my CD-player.

ooooooo careful with new hardware, because sometimes U will need to go into the setting of Acid and make sure they fit your soundcard, because before I did I got that magic clicking noise as well....... Just play around untill it goes away.

The usual source of clicks while recording in a digital environment is a problem with word clock settings. If two digital hardware pieces are not synced together the resulting audio will click as both units delay or proceed each other real time. What confuses me is that you only mention a soundcard and sfAcid... with only one digital hardware device (Sound Card) this really shouldn't be an issue. You might want to check that your sample rate and frequency is set up identically for your sound blaster and sfAcid. If these are different, you might have similar symptoms.
