i posted my first ever song i recorded on my 424mkIII and 488...or i should say ever recorded on anything.

im pretty happy with it...i do all of the instruments and vocals. im not to crazy about how it sounds via mp3 and computer speakers, but thats the way it goes....

it was a weird situation because I did 4 tracks on the 424, and than said, "man i need an 8 track". so i scored the 488 off Ebay and was extremely lucky. it is in damn good shape. so i dumped 4 tracks on the 488 and than added the drums and block on the other 4. so the first 4 tracks were actually second generation...weird, but it worked. Its a cover of Tom Waits: "Jockey Full of Bourbon."You can hear it at:

well it's a lot better than my first recording :)

i can't really listen right now cause my wife is asleep. but you should really put this in the mp3 clinic. you'll get a lot more comments that way.
 
I thought about this song all night and it finally occurred to me why I really liked it. Your sound is very similar to, but not the same as, a Canadian(?) singer/songwriter, Leonard Cohen. That's a compliment!

Its strange you would say that.A friend of mine who owns a studio in Cleveland said the same thing... Im checking out some of his stuff....thanks, I do take that as a compliment. I guess hes up for induction in the Rock Hall next time around to. I am familiar with "Suzanne" by Cohen, im gonna check out more of his stuff.

Nice one...

Good version of a great song.The recording comes across very well; obviously a handy machine. (Not to say that your talent plays no small part :-). As far as home recording goes it's the kind of inspiration I need. I'll be the proud owner of the dp01 fx from tomorrow; I've never recorded before so I hope to learn a lot and enjoy the experience. Thanks for posting!

appreciate the feedback....i used to perform a fair amount and had back surgery which wiped out that part of my life as drums are my primary instrument.

so i took up home recording and it has really filled that void as far as being able to pursue creativity on this cold rock we call earth.

I am sure you will really enjoy it. the dpx/cd is a good recorder. I checked them out and the prices are really coming down on them.

I am a newbie as well, and the whole thing, room treatments, setting everything up, building contraptions,etc., really gets you hooked. There are some really great people on this site who will give you an unbelievable amount of help.
