Im having sound issues with my bass. How should i go about cleaning it internally to get rid of noise? Is grabbing a rag and wiping the dirt off sufficient?

you're talking about an acoustic bass, right?

No. im talking about cleaning the electronics of my electric bass to get rid of noise. Anybody?

There's a kit by Caig with small cans of their various solvents.

Goto your neighborhood Rat Shack (or equivilet), and buy yourself a can of TV tuner cleaner. Spray into the pots liberally. If that works, great, if not, you probably will need to replace some parts.

1.) Are the pots making noise when you turn them?

2.) Is it humming all the time?

3.) (If it doesn't hum all the time) does the humming stop when you touch the stings or something metal on the bass?

4.) Take the cord completely out of the amp, is the amp humming?

I'll try to help the best I can. The answer to one it some of the radio shack spray. Two could be a few different things. Three is that your pickups aren't grounding somewhere along the way. And four means it's probally the amp.

Groud wires always seem to "jump" off of pots and I don't know why. (Especially input jacks). But don't worry, if I can help you, I'll try my best to.
