Hey there, I live in a land where no audio supply stores seem to carry the lintless q-tip devices necessary for cleaning tape heads. But the gentleman in one of those audio stores has suggested I buy some 99% Isopropanol, which I found at my local drug store...

But the doubt lies in my substitution for the 'lintless q-tip device'. I found these eye shadow applicators, brand new. They look like little sponges (well, they are little sponges), with what appears to me no chance of residue. Nothing flakey. Safe, right? And an added bonus, the packaging says they are 'Latex free, with RUBYCELL!" Whatever rubycell is...

Thanks for the info.

Greetings!

Those will work, but even better is something that cjacek turned me onto and a number have followed and that is to use makeup remover pads...100% cotton makup remover pads and the kind that have sort of a quilted look. They really help get into the nooks and crannies of the guides and hold a lot more cleaning fluid.

Which was originally what cjacek said...heheh... :D

Heh:D ........but seriously, q-tips should be banned for tape machines 1/4" and wider. They're only meant for cassette decks, in my world. :D

+ 10 for cjacek for suggesting and +5 for sweetbeats for mentioning. And 0 for me because I had nothing to add to this thread.
