You've got an awesome "down south" kinda voice.
Doesn't he? He was born and raised in Michigan, and I'm from Texas, but he has the ability to sound about 100X more "southern" than I've ever been able to. Al can do anything, I'm just glad he chose to do this.

By the way, if you wanna' hear HOW much better his is, mine's on NWR on my album page. Just run a search for "honest mango." Or don't, lol.

GGOOOOOTTTTT Dammmmmnnn Your good.. Great job.. I don't know what to say cause it all sounds awsome to me..

Ok I need to start getting serious.. You guys are a major inspiration and influence!

Hey Crawdad. I can only echo what's already been said. Very smooth . I really dug that slide guitar. Are you playin the steel too? Excellent job man.

Very cool, good job on a nice song. The vocals almost remind me of Tuesday's Gone.

That's pretty appropriate, I think. I remember when I penned this, I had 3 very specific songs in mind.

1. Purple Rain (Prince)
2. Seein' Things For The First Time (Black Crowes)
3. Tuesday's Gone (Lynard Skynard).

I steal b/c I have to, lol.

Sounds great,slide is awsome!
The steel is sweet,is that you playing?

Really great cover, definitly does justice to a fine song!

Thanks for sharing it,
Pete

kick ass. love the c.harris version, and love this version too. not much to say other than giddy, 'up.

um....yeah.........probably the best intro guitar solo i have heard on this board so far........in terms of playing and over all sound............very very good...........

great work on the vocals too.........good job

That slide gtr killed me...man that was so good. Great lead playing and tones to kill for. Are you sure your not Bob Seger and that crawdad dude lives down the road from you LOL:D . Your mixes are always great. I love each version of this;)

most impressive......
pedal steel sounds best.

this is like trying to critique whether chocolate cake is more appropriate over pecan pie, when I love both.

damn... crawdad's a major producer. in all essence of the word

... listening on my headphones.. hear the guitar coming through nice on the right channel. nice!

slide guitar is a great added touch. glass or metal? :)

your top notch in my book crawdad! nice work!

I cant find any problems in there... :)

In one stroke, I'm gonna thank everybody for listening and for the comments. That way, I can listen more tonight to other tunes! I have a few comments in general and a question or two of my own.:D

First, the electric guitar was a Tele into an amp using a Fulldrive II pedal, miced with the MXL V93. Preamp used was a DMP3. I played the pedal steel. I think that went through a Boss GT3.

Couple of questions. There were a couple of comments about the guitar pan being so hard left and right. Maybe a mistake? I do hear it done quite a bit, but I'm just making it up as I go. SluCe--Where did you hear the vocal distortion? I totally missed it and would like to check that out here. Oh--I see A1A2 says after 3:00. gee, it might just be me rasping out!:D

Finally: This is one song I'd love to play live with a band--right after doing a nice moody ballad, bring the lights up and fire into this one! Great song Chris!

Crawdad,

Excellent guitar work. Reminds me of David Gilmour's guitar sound/style.

From listening to Mark Knopfler's music, I've grown quite fond of the pedal steel guitar as played by the great Paul Franklin (who is originally from Detroit I believe). The pedal steel adds a nice touch and country feel to the song, which is very well written in the first place.

Damn, you guys are good!

Ah! Paul Franklin! He is SO incredible! When he was 16, he was playing stuff that boggled the mind. Now, he's just the tastiest steel player out there. No wonder he's the #1 studio call. I heard that Knopfler gave him a million dollars to do the last Dire Straits tour. He's on most if not all of the Alan Jackson records as well as tons of others. Yeah, he was from Detroit originally. Definitely a prodigy like Buddy Emmons. When I try to play even his simple licks, I fall to the ground saying "I'm not worthy!" All I can do do is practice and dream.

I've heard your folksy stuff that you do so well and would never have expected that you can make such a great band sound! Love those guitars!

Only criticism would be that the fade out sounded a little hurried.

One of the best "sounds like a real band" examples I've heard.

Well, once again I'm late with the review. Most of my comments have already been made. This is definately a top drawer keeper! Chris, this is excellent writing, and a great cover DAD! Truly an inspiration for me to get off my butt and get something posted.

Jeezus Christ Al, that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I'm serious. That's fuckin dangerous. I'm not worthy.
