Choppers leaving Saigon

Hey Ray, dig the tune  Listening on pc speakers now.. nice rhythm guitar sound and groove. Vox do seem to grow in volume a tad at times in the first verse. The flute just rox. Fits very well and the playing is cool. In the outro too with the chopper growing in the background. Flute might get a bit up front after the chopper leaves. Nice mood there and tune, really enjoyed it :D

I like it. Have I heard this before? I think I did, it sounds familiar. Very quirky, like the copter effect quite a bit. I like the flute, the volume needs to be more consistent. In general I could use more lead vocals, especially at the beginning.:)

I really like the tune and the choppers are cool....please don't take this the wrong way but, I get the feeling that you are singing in your comfort zone. You could really get your message across if you would just belt it out.....this is just my 2 centavos worth.....nice work man.:D

Slight changes - couldn't do much as explained above.
BB - I'll address the bass when the comp is fixed. Thanks.
Ido - thanks mate - Big Huey takes you & plucks you from death...I'll fix the vox when ... ta.
Snakey - thanks for the detailed analysis - is good info.
David - yep, vox vol. Will do thank - yeah - it's a remix of sorts of an older track.
jpw23 - it was the 1st track Terry had ever sung on so he sang quite conservatively & within his zone you're right. Thanks for the insight.

The only thing out of place for me here are the vocals. They sound on top of everything. They would do well being mixed into the rest of the song rather than on top of everything.

I think I can see/hear where monkeymanx is coming from. The vocal level varies (pretty normal really) from spot to spot. Occasionally the vox drop or pop out a bit but in most of the song they're a good volume. I'm not sure of your tools (VST?) or how you would do it in Cakewalk but I'm guessing some kind of compression on the vocals or maybe envelopes. It would take some time to determine which spots are good candidates for the work. I guess the envelope screen you showed me would be where I would start.

Is your main music computer still in the shop?

Hello monkeymanx,
Yeah, It needs work I'll get to it ASAP. Thanks mate
Hi Ido,
No comp yet. the tracks for this are on the harddrive so I've no where to go with it until I get it back.
I will use the automation screens to get a more vene level for the vox though if the quieter bits are already at max I might have to add some gain to the whole track & them readjust the automatio for that.
How are you going with that section of cakewalk?
Did you opt for the envelope or automation?

I've not had a chance to play with it yet, but maybe this weekend. I'm going to try the envelope window first.
