Which of the following would you choose for playing predominantly metal?

These are the bottom two price bracket for the G212H.

w/ Celestion G12H80s, Celestion 7080s, Eminence Alnico 122s 35W, Eminence M12's $299. + 34 shipping

Mix any Celestion Vintage 30s, Greenback's, G12H30s,Classic Lead 80's, Hellatone 30s , Hellatone 60s, Eminence Swamp Thangs, Govenors, Private Jacks, Texas Heats, Tonkers , Wizards, Tonespotters
$319. + 34 shipping

Okay, stupid question. I think I've already asked it in a roundabout way, but I'd like to be specific. If the combination of the two 60w speakers is 120w, would I be pushing it to running a 120watt amp into them?

I don't have expierience with all of those speakers, so I really couldn't tell you.

That shoud be just fine. There was a post up here about that the other week, and basically the idea is that you have more problems with underpowered amps than you do with overpowering ones. That set-up should serve you well.

Underpowering speakers is mostly BS. Not completely, but 99% of it is. Look how many guitar cabs on the market are rated for 200-400 watts and how few will ever get a 400 watt head hooked up to them.

Only one kind of person blows a speaker with any amp:

The kind that doesn't know what they are doing.

I don't care if those shoes fit, I'm not wearing them :o :D

BTW outlaws, it's not looking like the univalve is going to be a financial possibility this time around.

Are you looking for a cab, or just raw speakers?

Here's a couple to check out........

This one may be a bit more than you want to spend, but it's well worth the money (I've got a custome Buzz bomb 2x12) :

Also I've heard nothing but good things about Carvin's cabs, plus I've got one of there 4x12's.......they also sell the raw speakers:

cellar...

you said 'metal' which to me is some speed and some articulation not the d tuned world.

To me, greenbacks are simply 'it'.

With a 100 watt head and a 4/12 cab of greenies paralled, they'll handle the head day in and day out provided your not constantly playing REAL loud, like full gain and over 7+ volume. You can start peaking here and there past 100 watts output which, over time CAN do in the 25 w greenbacks.

Vintage 30's are my second choice but you've listed a bunch of speakers I haven't even heard of let alone tried.

I'm guilty :o , but not 100%. 1 of 3 of my guitars is standard tuning.

Werner- I was looking at avatar cabinets, and the choices they offer for their custom cab.

KQ- I don't think those are offered as an alternative.

I wonder about the Eminence line, someone here told me they don't break up as sweet as the celestions though. I'll have to do some digging tonight.

"That Marshall puts out 100 amps. With that much current, the ohms don't matter. You could hook up six cabs and be fine."
Is there someone posting under my name again...? :D

That rates right up there with the Guitar Center employee who said when the customer asked to play a guitar "You've seen me put it through its' paces, you know it's good..." (or something like that).

Why don't you post this question on a board like Weber's? Those guys over there live and breathe speakers. Just a thought.
