I fear that in doing so I have lost a measure of credibility, and the respect of some of the members of this forum, before I even had the chance to earn it.

In my book, you gained back more than you lost. Humility is a rare and precious commodity these days. Every one of us speaks out of place at times, only those with real backbone stand up and say they were wrong when they realize it.

I SECOND THAT THE WORDS ABOVE ARE GOLDEN

MOFO its ok you are forgiven no hard feelings m8 remember its better a man speaks no matter what he may say then hold it in and think the same anyway because the thought kept within is as good as the spoken word it takes guts to speak and a good deal of humility to sight yourself when you feel you have made a mistake.

Id say we are all in this together oneway or another we are all here to either learn or to teach or to gather knowledgeand hopefully share it with others in need who were new just like we are now

everyone has potential it depends on the individual and how she/he taps into what reserves they have

sometimes the term "LESS ISMORE" IS SO TRUE It not about who has the biggest the fastest the greatest its sometimes how we use what we have to create the magic we hear and then be able to put that down in a way for so many to hear exactly what we heard at that very moment in time what a gift indeed to beable to do all that in such a way which inspires others to want to do the same wow ................ok back to the subject now.

ausrock from one aussie to another bury the bitter mate it all wont matter in 20 years time so no hard feelings chris and iam sorry i answered back to you in such a way which also was not me at all and could have been avoided had i too just let it slide.

phewww ok your turn now Alan hehehe Mate ive priced these wonderfull inventions of yours in melbourne the c1 and c3 the best price so far ive been quoted is 560 aus for the c1 and 871 for the c3 i could ware the c1 at 560 but the c3 at 871 thats still 173 more i have to pay then if i got that mic in the us this is why ive been looking around for prices forget duty i dont believe in it if a shop wont plain wrap and post too me seperating the reciept work from the package i look elsewhere because duty is just not fair all they have to declare is the basic net us rate and declare the package as electronic replacement parts mic thats it then no one cops duty and we all end up smiling the government take enough out of our paypackets over this way i

Alan: I was pulling your leg! Clemson, SC is WAY south of Newark. BH

Now matter what they say about you guys over at ProRec, you're all right by me :D :D

Only kidding, I am glad eveyone here is willing to get along and make peace. It is a pleasure to be on this thread. If you have read the "Best Mic Under $400.00" thread on the same microphone forum, you know I had yet another battle.

Hey, I am probably more passionate than I should be, and I am definately more New York than I should be...nice try Bob :) Now I have to find out if SC can make pizza!

So bear with me as well as I am the fastest gun in the West and I pull the trigger faster than I should sometimes.

You guys are great...and MoFo, good guess, but you're off by a few.

hey Alan?

Two things.

A) The magic number is 797 isn't it? (Do you need a shipping address?)

and

2) Are the C1s really that good. C'mon, I have heard so much hype that I don't know whether to lick my chops or ignore the whole mess... And the hardest part is there's not a local store (Northern Indiana) to go check 'em out at...

Peace,

-Doug:cool:

it's that good

The first definition of "hype" in Webster's is deception – which is incorrect concerning the C1.

Doug, here's from a recent post I made in another forum:

There are tons of testimonies on the C1 comparing it w/ the U87 – and in some cases, people think it's better. I know a lot of people have bought C1's sight unseen based soley on my and other's reviews. The only emails I've ever received from C1 owners have been to say "thanks!".

Everyone that I've seen that's bought a C1 has been blown away. When I bought my C1, I wasn't looking for a "budget" mic, I was looking for a great vocal mic – and ultimately, I was willing to spend $2000.

In the last year, SP has won TEC awards, AES awards and the C1 was recently chosen as a BE Radio Hit Pick – out of thousands of choices.

I had $2000 sitting in the bank for a Neumann U87, Lawson or maybe a Gefell. $1777 of it is still in the bank. : )

I posted my review on 6/1 and have since had the mic for over 2 months and used it on many vocalists and for many applications – and I still stand by the comments I made, This is one of the most exciting purchases I have ever made. I am truly in the presence of a great, classic-sounding mic.

Here's a place that will give you a refund if you don't think the C1 is amazing. http://www.studiocat.com/HTM/main.htm

Doug,

Now that was a very creative guess....but ...Loser!!!! :D :D :D

Only kidding about the loser thing, but 797 is a bit to obvious. What do you think I will say about the C1. It is really killer, but the real killer mics are the C3 and T3.

You can't get a better mic than the C1 for the money. You can search, but thousands of people have already done that for you and have already told you it is the best.

If everybody is saying the same thing, then believe them. They can't all be lying, and I can't afford to pay all of them off to say it's great. Please Believe It!!!

I finally figured out the way for us to make money off alan's microphones.
The secret is... make a hit song with one!

chessparov

Now that's music to my ears, and what its all about.

okay Alan, one more try...

okay, my final attempt.

the magic number is 101. C is 100 + 1=101. There, just let me know where to send the shipping info.

btw, my bad on believing the Rode NT1 hype. A decent $200 condenser, but certainly not stellar. Do I want to buy another "decent" $200 mic? That is the question...

Thanks for being a good sport. I really thought I would win.

Good luck!

my guess is number 1 alan like in number 1 mic range at a price that cant be beat :-)))))) is this the number alan :-)

Alan, really...darn...

Alan,

As an unhappy PS to my post, I was nearly all-the-way convinced especially by the opportunity to try before I buy (with Studio Cat? -- my memory suddenly fails...)

However (insert large comma here...) I just found out yesterday that my wife lost her job. Sooooo, it will probably be at least a little while before I can consider that kind of purchase...

That's why I was really hoping I had the magic number...

Hey, thanks again! There should be more owners like you.

Peace,
-Doug

DougD,

Sorry about the wife loosing her job. The C1's will be around when your ready, and the new "B" Series will be here by the end of the year, so if the budget is tight, they may be more in line.

The "B" Series...

Alan,
I forget where you dropped other hints on the B series, but I thought I'd just ask straight up.

Will the B series include a SD condenser? (I'd love to get some overheads for our drummer, but he's a real cheapskate.)

Ok Alan,

My absolute last guess:

81,620,011,054

(That was the time you posted the challenge... 08-16-2001 10:54)

Am I bored or what? Time to get back to recording!
