Chewed Cable Question

One of my viscious rabbid insane little rabbits chewed two good chunks out of my much too expensive Monster Cable. Now, the cable still works, however the chewing went down into the core and severed much of the wire inside.

The silly question: Is this cable still okay to record with if I am getting a signal through it, or are there bad things going on that my ears aren't trained enough to hear.

I don't mind tossing this cable. But my question is partly curriosity and partly practicallity, meaning maybe it's okay to still use.

Thanks,
Chris

If the cable is a SP1000, you will have a hard time trying to resolder an end to it, as Monster has special equipment for stripping the insulation off of that wire and soldering it.

If it is anything below that, you will really want to cut the cable and resolder an end before the break in the wire. Indeed, you COULD have some issues with signal integrity if some of the wires are severed.

Good luck.
