hey everyone im new to the forum i like the whole idea of how things go on here and id like to get some feed on how i can better myself as a producer i work with musicians such as singers,hip hop heads and rappers.. i recently built a lil studio with soundproof box that i put together myself i just baught some equipment (bluebird microphone,PreSonus tubePRE, and i use cool edit pro to produce on its what i been using for not to long,and im looking to get a good pure sound like cd/album type quality since im starting to work with a couple of artists and id like to know if anyone here can give me any tips or tutorials on how to get great sound quality on how to make a nice mastered sound can anyone help me out?...


im also a graphic designer i do lik logos,cd covers etc...so if someone could really help me out with ways of making vocals and a song sound better ill surely hook you up depending on how much your help compensates me...thank you..
 
You want us to condense ALL that information into one post? Ha ha.

There's no cook book. Use your ears. Compare what you have recorded with recordings you want your own to sound like. Figure out what the difference is. Buy gear as you need, and don't buy junk (gear reviews in pro mags are great, mostly). Find out what it takes to record vocals so they sound the way you want. Listen to everyone else, and listen to yourself.

That's mostly it, what I've learned over 38 years.

If you want to be more specific, a lot of us around here can help you.
 
^thanks and i listen n its that i been messing around with cool edit and at the end of it all i go and listen to another song from mixtapes around here and i just dont get the same effect like i want it to sound warm and blend in with the beat at it usualy doesnt is there something i need to mess around with to get that warm sound because as soon as i turn up the song u can tell its a bit raspy after the efects do you understand what im saying?
 
Here are some of the things that can cause the problems:

1. Poor recording space (too small, untreated, noisy, standing waves, flutter echoes, and on and on)

2. Inaccurate microphones (too much level causing distortion, using mics with poor frequency response, using the wrong kind of mic for the job)

3. Poor or nonexistent monitoring (using cheap computer speakers, or PA speaker, or headphones to record and mix)

4. Poor mic technique (popping P's, proximity effect from eating the mic)

5. User error (poor gain staging, using inappropriate gear)

Those are just the things that occur to me off the top of my head. In other words, the amount of information you have given doesn't narrow down the sources of your problems.
 
thanks for the info bro and the quality of the non mixed vocal sounds nice but i just need to know how to blend the vocal nicely with the beat without making it sound to out there you know but thanks for your thoughts bro
