AMEK channel strip for around 90 bucks. You could do worse. Hard to go wrong there. I'd pick it up, adds to your arsenal, gives you some more spice in the cabinet. You'd have to put some money into it though. It needs to be racked, and you'd have to have a power supply set up for it.
 
I was shopping for a high end mic pre recently, and AMEK was high on my list. Since you can't really find those at local music shops, I took the advice of some members here and found a local studio that had some, and auditioned them. They are nice, descrete mic pre's, and sound very musical. In the end, I opted for something else, but I still like them, and would consider them again if the need ever arises.
 
well, hopefully, i should have one of those very soon, the auction ends in a matter of hours, and there's another 14 of them for sale, so fingers crossed, it'll be a good 'un!

My next plan is to put it in a 19" rack, along with a spdif connector. It will mean that I can connect the unit directly to the spdif in on my Delta 1010.

I really hope i actually do something with this one, and not leave it rot on the pile with everything else I was hoping to 'make'.
