okay... so i blasted Bluebear in one of my posts... what can i say, it was a bad day. some said that i needed to put my money where my mouth is... so here it is, kinda. i dont have anything that i've mixed yet, its all back in my home state of OKLAHOMA!!! WAHOOO!!! but, here is an acoustic song that i wrote for my girlfriend. now, mind you, the recording quality is lacking, we did this in about 10 minutes. so. take it for what it is. i think the song can stand on its own... the recording, eh... not so much... but enough jabber... on to the music!!!

I never comment on songs themselves, only the recording/sound quality. From that perspective, you already know the problems.

The recording and the mixing don't match the emotional impact of the song at all... it's completely hidden under a bad mix, overuse of effects , and rough tracking.

However, mixed properly and a bit more polish to the production, and it would have been a lot more effective as a whole.

Nicely performed!

I've got a real problem with the amount of reverb. It muddies up the guitar, and really makes the string squeaks stand out. Personally I'd go with just a hint of reverb on everything ( i. e. you don't hear it, but notice when it's not there on an A/B comparison ), or totally dry. The guitar sound you got is rich enough to stand on its own with no help.

Watch your p-plosives. Using a pop screen and singing slightly angled across the mike will help eliminate the p pop. Again, the amount of reverb you're using tends to emphasize the pop, you'd probably find it much less of a problem with less reverb.

That's really cool. I wish you had mic'd the acoustics. You sing well. Too many low mids in the acoustics, but I get the idea.

Production seems to need some work as you already said. Nice guitar chording and solid vocals.

Style wise it must be an American thang. It sounds like a solid song though.
Chorus could do with a little..erm something. Yeah. That should clear it up.
I like the vocal style. Too much reverb on ye old guitars. Sounds like a toned down version of Exit Music for a film by Radiohead.
