When I ran LE under Win98, it blue screened all the time.

In any case, crashes in audio software are unacceptable to me, and like with any free software you get what you pay for.
Ah, I think you mean you're using Pro Tools Free, rather than LE? LE is what comes with hardware, like the Digi 001, etc.
The stability difference between LE and Free is night and day, esp. on PC.
I've not yet had PT LE crash (let alone blue-screen) on Win98 SE, which is what I'm still on. We'll see, but it hasn't happened yet.
Ham on Rye: "...it could still be the same converters."
You mean converters don't take into account sample rate as well as bit resolution? I thought they did ... otherwise, why would an external AD/DA converter that I have specify that it converts at 24/44.1 and 24/48, and requires that I choose one?
Teacher: "I'm not saying PT converters or worse then M-audio, echo etc.. i'm just saying they aren't better
cuz PT users get the feeling of superiority ..."
Ah, I see. I appreciate your clarification of what you mean, but it still seems you have a chip on your shoulder about Digi products (if Echo came out with a new thing, would you say, "yeah, but I bet it doesn't sound any better?" I don't know, maybe you would.). If it's because you think we PT users are status-conscious, let me assure you (and I attempt to speak for a majority of PT users), we're not. I chose Digidesign for, as you suggest in your post, collaboration with TDM studios; it's not about wearing a certain label on my shoes to be cool or whatever. It's about what suited my needs after exhaustive research.
Peace out,
