I thought it would be easy but I have to start learning how to handle this new chunky piece of metal. Experience from my dynamic is all out the window! definately a shock to me, but sure is fun.

I never wanted to record this wee ballady thing but I never seem to record the songs I actually want to record.

Anyway, I do hope you notice a difference but I must say I could barely reach the top notes and it shows....harmonys are silly too.

What do you think, a good investment? or just the same as before?

If you have time give it a listen. Cheers

dude, when are you going to sign already? i want an autographed copy of your cd!

listening on crappy headphones but sounds about like what i expected.

guitars are beautifully warm, but you got that before so i'll have to listen on monitors to compare that.

the vocal is a very big improvement imo. now we're starting to get a bigger picture of your voice, especially on the lower end. sounds great! damn, you do have a golden gift. definitely an improvement over the other vocal mic from what i can hear. now it does have a little of that 'i'm a cheap condenser' in the higher end but from what i can tell it costs a lot of money to take care of that so not holding that against you. just gotta really watch your levels when you use it and keep a good distance when you're getting louder. using a condensor for the first time is definitely a challange, but you've done real well boy!

when you do come to america, do us all a favor and stop by watyf's brother's house and track some stuff using the ultimate vocal chain. i would love to hear that. this is a step in the right direction erland. next step is a major studio on a major label's dime :).

as for the song. once again, i could listen to you all day long. thanks for that.

Really nice. Good tone. Great song. I like your voice.

man I hate you....

:p

This sounds great dude. Really... the mix is so full. geez dude... what the hell?!?! It's like everything you touch turns to sonic gold. I can't even get a $2500 mic to sound good, and you buy a 100 dollar condensor and put me to shame.. :p

That's it... I'm just gonna give up and sell all that expensive gear...

oh wait... that's my brother's gear...

ok nevermind.

:p

Very nice sounding. The mic sounds a bit crispy but it suits the music.
Good tune.

I give it a 9.

Agreed.

Overall, the whole recording sounds absolutely great on my monitors...there's just that upper end harshness that some might call sibilance.

But who the fuck cares...LOL. I haven't heard you singing "out" this much...sounds great, as does everything you touch.

It's wonderful, my non-pic posting friend. :D

Post a pic.

Stay HONEST MAN;GO easy

Another Rave Review

I forgot a couple of things:

1. My 2 year old (who was VERY cranky) is now passively sitting on the floor, thumb in mouth, just staring at the monitors, swaying back and forth while this loops. He applauds after every round. He has excellent taste, btw.

2. What condenser did you get? (AKG???)

3. Shut up about the harmonies already...they're cool and totally appropriate.

4. I truly hate you and am secretly plotting to have you killed.

SO LOOK OUT

Rough translation: Chris loves your music and so does his child.

Just in case you don't speak Harris.

your recordings are sounding 200% better. You made a good investment. Song is real nice too. A couple of "thumps" every now and then, like a kicked mic stand, or a thump on the guitar, but nothing too major. I give this a 4:eek:

out of a 4.01!!

I don't know what your situation is, but I hope you are totally determined to pursue music full time and are completely confident that you'll be successful. You have a voice that would make people take notice no matter what you sing.

I hate to say anything about the sound, since I don't feel too qualified, but I do notice some of the sibilance, or high end brittleness thing some others mentioned. Pretty minor though. With that voice, who cares.

You guys are gonna give me a complex  ;) :D
too late... I already have a complex from listening to his stuff. :p Every time I hear one of his recordings, I hate mine even more than I already did.

and if I had a two year old, he or she would be sucking their thumb and swaying back and forth to this too... :p

My wife is listening to Erland's stuff now too. She's really digging it. I need to get my ass in gear to impress my wife now (musically that is):D

rough translation of what erichenryus posted
erichenryus feels like a two year old when he hears your music.

hey, Erland

Good work, man. I can kinda see you struggling(just a little) to reach the top note, but that goes well with the mood anyway.
Glad you got a new mic and preamp, they sound awsome. I think I mentioned low-cut in your other thread, you should try to EQ out everything, say, below 80hz cuz the guitars did get boomy at some spots in this tune. If you still don't know what I mean by low-cut, I, and everyone here will be gladly to explain :)

GOOD WORK!

AL

I was gonna say exactly what A1A2 said. The new mic is picking up more low end boom from the guitar. You might try experimenting with placing the mic further away from the soundhole. Or try the low cut. Or even both. See what you think.

Nice tune! The mic is definitely adding depth and clarity to your recordings--both voice and guitar.

well contrary to all your other songs this one actually sounds good....

lmao....yeah uh huh.....beautiful.....vocals ...comeonyou dont need to hear anything from me on how great they sound...oh oops i just said it......guitar sooooo full and clean ...and superb..and smooth...and.......what was i saying...???...

jam5al

hehehe

What can I say? I'm downloading this song. 5.2 MB on a 28.8K connection! Maybe it'll be done by the morning lol.

The vocals sound wonderful. Such a soothing, smooth voice.

And the guitars hold the song together so well on their own.

I would say... Keep recording these "ballady" songs.

Great song. Thanks :)
