I checked out Runnin' cause it said acoustic rock.

I like the guitars. There's nice clarity in them.

Vocal is hurting though. Lot's of distortion in that vocal track.

I listened to Canada,

Cana, cana.... cana, cana..... canada....

Slow, didn't build for me. Dynamics seemed to stay the same. I've said this alot lately, but I'm just not hearing songs that have good dynamics. This song was pleasent, but after I heard the first chorus of "cana, cana....cana, cana....Canada" I knew it was going to be repetitive. Nice silky vocals though. :)

Hey guys thanks for the comments.
I don't have a compressor, that wouldve killed that distortion in runnin', but we decided we kinda liked it so we left it.
About canada, I was going to add some more guitars to the chorus part - that would probably help dynamics I think..

Im a fan.
Nice and mellow... I listened to fight to live because no one had mentioned that one yet..
need compression on the vox.. they fade in and out alot.
sounds a little too wide to me.. I'd bring the guitar in a little more.
Just personal opinion.

I like the tune though man... Nice clear recording too.

I listened to "Butterfly" cause i'm all about blues:D . i thought it was a real good recording. The harp really sounded great, good job on this man.

demensia and freshears: Thanks a lot guys. Thanks for listening.

I'm probably going to get an RNC when I get the chance, it would help a lot I think.

I listened to Canada because it had the most interesting title.

I liked it, in an Adam Sandler sort of way. All through the song I was waiting to hear what the next verse said. I liked all the "aboot's". That was funny.

I liked the doubled guitars. They may be panned just a little too hard. I'd say to move them a little closer to center.

The vocals have a little bit of trouble coming through. Covered just slightly by the guitars.

Good song, good effort.

Thanks for listening Triple M, I'm glad you liked it.

I'll look into those suggestions.

I hate to be the jerk here, but I'm giving you my honest opinion. I listened to Canada, and turned it off about 30 seconds in...I think it was right after the first chorus...the guitars sounds nice, a soft sound, I liked that, but those lyrics were terrible! I'm sorry, the vocal line was the same two notes from the start of the verse through to the chorus. You might as well have been talking, it wouldn't have made a difference. It does sound like Adam Sandler and that stupid baby voice.
Hey you can't please everyone can you?
Just to be fair, I'll listen to something else...

I listened to Butterfly, nobody else seems to have commented on this one I think

The guitars sound good, I'd suggest maybe instead of doubling the guitars, have a second guitar part maybe playing the same chords, but different shapes...i.e. an open E, then an E up on the 7th fret...just to give it more colour...unless it's a different voclaist from Canada, I'd suggest not changing the way your voice sounds just to suit the type of song you have...when you hear a Bacon on the Side song, you should know it's a Bacon on the Side song. You know what I mean? I don't mean to be so negative, I'm trying to give constructive critism...I think Butterfly was way better than Canada...

Good advice, thanks for listening.

I'm listening to Butterfly right now.....sounds decent....pretty good acoustic sound........harp is a little weak in the mix and could use just a touch of highs......really, really needs some kind of percussion, a shaker or maracas or even someone stomping on a wooden floor....... vocals are a bit too loud.....not needing compression mind you; just turn the damn thing down a bit. ;)

OK Runnin'...........you do get a good acoustic sound.......oh lord, can't listen to that distorted vox.......even if you don't have a comp you can still turn it down 'till it doesn't distort....I, in fact, never use comps at all for anything......I can sort of see what you mean about liking the effect but you need to emphasize that it's intentional....maybe add a strong delay to it......but I can't listen to this.

Canada.......vocal is very mushy sounding.....not sure why but it has no definition.......also it's out of tune fairly often and overpowers the rest of the mix without being strong enough to carry it..........it does get repetitious, especially since it's built on only two notes for the most part.

Fighting to Live has that same slightly out of tune/no presence sound to the vox that I didn't like in Canada. It's almost like you're whispering.....harmony is out of tune.....

I think the biggest thing you should work on is mic technique. The most obvious problems all have to do with the vocals. What kind of mic are you using? I'd work on my vocal sound first and also, you should look at various types of accessory percussion. It wouldn't cost much but you'd be shocked how much a shaker or cabasa could perk up those tunes if you can play it in time.

All in all, not a bad first offering here. I look forward to hearing more stuff from you.

Thanks for the detailed review !
My singer has only been singing for 2 months (with no lessons) so hes always getting better. You're right about the percussion - one of our songs we bang on our guitars and play the rain stick.
I'm glad you kinda liked our stuff !

Err Umm I dont know what to add, I liked it but I didn't:confused:
I mean nice sound but it bothered me  I mean, Sounds too much like my stuff,,,Yeah thats it. My stuff always bothers me:D :D

I guess I didnt help much:(

I agree with the critics above on the voxproblems and also on the repetative nature of the songs. sounds like your also trying to develop a style.

Peace
