Hello,

Please check out my recent recording and give me some feedback.
I'm still mixing in headphones so far...but aiming to get some monitors soon.
I'm hoping to get my recording quality to a saleable condition, so please let me know quality wise if you would pay for something of this quality.

Used Cubase, Addictive Drums, Roland HD-1, Zoom G2.1u w/Schecter Guitar, Samick Bass...all instrumentation is just me.
Enjoy/Peace

There's quite a lot of noise on the guitar effect you're using that's masking the clarity of the mix. It also sounds DI. Are you micing up an amp? Effects that sound good in your room sometimes don't translate so well - you generally need a lot less gain than what you'd think. Another thing to try is to hi-pass your guitars and leave more room down below for the bass. Would I pay for something of this quality? Well, not yet. And if you're only in this for the money, you'll go hungry

Hey,

I appreciate the feedback. Sometimes hard to take but at least you know it's honest. Thanks man!
Yes it is DI. I was hoping the cab emulator on my zoom pedal would help.
I live in joined condo units, with a solid state amp I wouldn't want to mic.
My mic is a zoom h2 which is decent but I doubt Ideal for guitar.
I have a family and not a lot of cash for equipment so I do what I can with what I got.

I'm going to try taking down the gain. I have a crate I got from work I may soundproof as an amp box.
Then I need to figure out how I'd work an sm57 into my setup.

Anyway I'm not in this for the money, I've been recording solely for my own listening for about 16 years. No real training or know how. Just playing around. I'm already hungry ;0)
I enjoy it and hope one day I can make some money at it as it's my passion.

Anyway thanks again for the advice and keen audio detection. You busted me on DI.

Have a good one

My experience with Zoom has not been good. Never toyed with the G2.1u but I'll assume it has the same short comings as all the other zoom pedals. Can it be made to work though? Most likely. Start by taking Bull's advice. Don't knock the solid state amp until you try it with a mic. Even if the distortion sucks a mic'd amp almost always wins.

I wouldn't pay anything for this. I don't like the song or the recording.

But yeah, mic the amp. That DI fizztone no-amp stuff aint working. Or invest in a better amp sim. and work on "humanizing" the drums. They sound like a robot.
