Hmm... I'm listening to The Ticket Taker right now, I already listened to I cant do better, so I'll comment on that for now while I listen.

First things first, some of it was off tune, and your vocals skipped. But, over-all your vocals are fairly well. I noticed you went back over and recorded your voice on some of the lyrics, twice, to make it sound better. Great idea, I've done it once or twice. But the fact of the matter is, you were off on a lot of them. Like you would say.. "I can't" "I can't" do better, which the reason I said that twice, is because it almost sounded like an echo, but an out of place echo at that. I recommend re-doing the vocals there, and if it was someone else singing along with you to do the dual vocal, make sure he is in tune and says the same words at the same time you do, so it sounds in tune and a lot better.

I'm listening to The ticket taker, as I said above. I'm not into this one as much as I was the other one, this ones a little bit too slow, I liked the upbeat of the other one. Too many long notes in your vocals on this one. The guitar playing is very good, keep that up, that's really good. I can't understand the lyrics enough to memorize them and see if they are any good, but from what I can tell over both of the songs, they are decently done. 100% better than anything I've ever recorded of "singing" like that. Are you recording the guitar, and the vocals separate? Or are you recording them at the same time, because I know that's really hard to do. But from the sounds of it, you're doing them separate, because I can tell that you're not getting out of breath while playing the guitar, in your vocals. Which happens alot, when playing the guitar and singing at the same time, since you're constantly moving. But, if you are playing them both at the same time, mad props, that's tough to do.

Never the less, the recordings are pretty good, I liked them for the most part. But, like I said, that's my advice up there, take some time and re-do them if need be. I'd like to hear them again, they are very good. You have a great voice, needs some work, but it's really good. You could go somewhere with this.

Hope this helps.

:D

whoa that has to be the most useful comment i have ever recieved here... yeah i recorded them at the same time and yeah i did try and sing twice the same thing :/ im definitely going to go back and redo them and add a bass line and a second guitar.. i didnt have enough time to record everything! hehe... yeah in that song "i cant do better" my friend was singing as well he was doing like that "mono tone" thing i think its called.. haha... but yeah im for sure going to go back and record them as perfect as i can get them... i cant wait to add those second guitar parts i have in mind... thanks a lot for listening, you dont know how i love hearing what other people think about my music instead of you know my parents, friends and w.e... thanks a lot again

P.S - my main instrument is drums ive been playing drums for 8 years since i was 9... but i would love to add drums to my songs but this place doesent have a set with heads on them... do you reccomend putting those "fake" drum sounds in those sounds? will it sound cheesy??

Hmmm....well if you mean using midi samples, those samples come from a real mic'd set. Someone had to record them to get 'em onto a keyboard with a sound bank. It kinda depends on a) the quality of the samples, and b) how handy you are at programming them. Alot of people diss midi drums because they lack the 'flow' of a live drummer, as computers have no intuition. But for basic backing, you can readily do kick, kick, snare, toms etc. Alternatively, ya can google some free drum loops; an actual loop recorded by a real drummer but set to a fixed tempo (unless it has been acidized and you are using a sequencer that supports acidized loops). The reason I'm interested is because I use a sound card that lets me record two instrumetns/mics at once. As you know yourself, you will get a shit drum sound with only two mics, so I use loops as a way around that...but I started by using midi phrases..they can be quite useful. But there are alot of work arounds, mostly software based.

Its a real drummer playing one hit at a time....as far as I know, someone correct me if I'm wrong....well, as far as the samples I'm referring go. Take a look at a basic metronome grid and see how it goes for you. Cool thing about midi is once you play in time with it, you can swap it for loops or a real drummer later.

Hey, giving ''I can't do better'' a listen. What guitar are ya playing on that? Did you open tune it? It's a nice open guitar sound. Just make sure your overdubs are spot on, but it sounds cool. What was said about your vocals was spot on...they need a small bit of work. The thing about songs like this - one guitar and vocals - it takes a lot to carry the song, and keep it interesting for the whole 3 and a half minutes...maybe mess around with some drum betas or even some synths just to keep it interesting..perhaps an instrumental section? I really like this song though and if you polish the vocals, I'd love to hear the finished article. I can't sing, so I appreciate how hard it must be to nail it twice!

So can ya find out what mics ya used on that guitar and what guitar it was? Cheers.

Well, As my comment went you already know what to do to make it better. Uhm, I do recommend putting the drums in there, it would make it alot better. If you want, when you get the final copy done, send it to me (WAV is best, but mp3 is smaller, so go with that) and I can add the drums to it, if you'd prefer. I do create beats, so I have a huge sound bank to mess with.

This is one of my more recent works of art I'm doing. It's not done, it's got work left to do on it. But that's just something I'd throw in here.

Uhm, Otherwise yea', definitely, try and throw the drums on it. Do you own a copy of Fruity Loops? That would work PERFECT for adding the drums. But if you don't, I do and I can add the drums for you, and edit it a bit. Tweak, Tweak. :P

Hope this helps, keep at it, you're doing great. I'm also 17, so I know what the pressure to be good is like. Keep at it, you can only get better.

I only listened to the song once, so there might be some other stuff, that I'd comment on. But, fix those things first, and we'll go to something else and get it album worthy ;). So you can throw a single out :P

Take care, Again, hope this helps out a bit.

Truly yours.
