Exactly what did you have in mind with this post?

Are you looking for pats on the back, or would you like us to cut it down for you????

It doesn't matter what WE think of your gear, as long as it serves your needs!

Charoo, what made you pick that particular combination of gear? Did you talk to anyone first about interfacing the DM24 mixer with the other items on your list, specifically the Pyramix?

Also, what type of productions (radio, film sound, TV commercials, etc) are you planning on doing?

Some of the gear you mentioned (the DM-24, for example) have a pretty steep learning curve (hard to figure out many of the features) especially if you're to be teaching non-engineers how to use them - remember, in order to teach something to someone, you need to know at least 10 TIMES as much as you hope to teach.

The Pyramix system, although very high quality, is also pretty closed to other protocols from what I've read - do you have a specific way of interfacing it with the Tascam mixer? And, what specific cards did you buy with your system? They have about a dozen different cards that they mix and match to put together a system, so you need to indicate just WHICH CARDS are included in your specific system. Also, not many people here will be familiar with the Pyramix, since it is a closed system using its own hardware and software, and therefore requires a LARGE $$$ expense to get into all at once. This will make most of your questions about Pyramix go un-answered, not for lack of interest but for lack of knowledge. I personally have done some research on their systems, but still know little about their hardware and NOTHING about their software, and I'm probably ahead of most people here, since a lot of us are on seriously restricted budgets.

These are all questions that should have been answered BEFORE you paid your money; I hope for your sake that you did more research than it seems.

Unfortunately, at this stage of the development of digital audio, things are seldom what they seem when it comes to different pieces of gear being compatible with others. As of today, there are too many conflicting methods of transmitting digital audio.

The DM-24, while it is an excellent value (I own one) is a royal pain to interface with DAWs so far. If you go any way other than TDIF, you need option cards for the two slots in the rear. IF you do use TDIF1,2,and 3 on the DM24, you need TDIF compatible connections, of which there are FEW options. If you convert to analog, you've just lowered the quality of your final product by adding two more conversions to the chain. If you want high resolution (24/96, for example) the DM-24, as do all its lower cost competitors, cuts your channels in HALF.

In your next post, please do some SERIOUS study before you answer - I know English is not your first language, and I've seen less literate posts from people with ONLY English as their language, but all the more reason to learn as much as you can about audio so you can communicate your questions better.

By that, I mean that it is hard to answer a question when you're not even sure it IS a question. Specific questions about specific problems are MUCH easier to answer.

I hope this helps you ask more answerable questions - if you want to learn more in order to be able to ask specific questions, one source is this board's archives, here -

http://www.studiocovers.com/articles.htm

Some of the material there is somewhat outdated, but there is still a huge amount of knowledge waiting for you.

On a more current level, here is Tascam's BBS for their digital mixers, just in case you've not already found it -

http://www.tascam.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=6

In EVERY aspect of this business, you'll get much better answers if you learn as much as you can from manuals, magazines, and internet research BEFORE you ask your questions. And it's not always because we're being smartasses, it's largely because we can't understand what your question is asking.

Again, study as much as you can so you can phrase questions we know how to answer... Steve

Hmmm... and all this time I thought it was:

"In order to teach something to someone, you need to be at least one lesson ahead of them...."

(Sadly, that's how I've usually done it...)
