I have a cheap computer (pentium II 533 mhhz 192 mb ram...enuff gigs, with an extraordinarily cheap sb 16 bit soundcard|)...but Im lookin to record haha...Ive been wanderin around town lookin at soundcards or are they?(the echo mia and audiophile 24/96)...I had purchased cubasis vst 2.0 some time ago but all that does is crash...ok youre wonderin whats the question...ok well first is it even humanly possible to record decent tunes with what i have?...(hence the cheapo)if not what kinda MINIMAL upgrades am I lookin at?...second of all...regarding cubasis i think i might throw that sucker to the birds...maybe considering purchasin acid rock program...the question is...I want a recordin program in which I can record my guitars(effects dont matter I got enuff of those) and a recording program that has a drum machine in it(I have no real drums and have absolutely no intention of getting any)...so whats the best buy hehe??...any input would be appreciated thks...

Your rig sounds ok.... that 533 with 192 of ram should be adequate. What OS? All you need to do is get a decent card and feed 2.0 to the Pelicans and get 5.0 or Sonar.

Get N-Track and record with your existing card....if the results arent good enuff quality, get the Audiophile.......

try PG Music Pro Audio line (very cheap about 30 bucks) works well and has lots of features.

n track

hey this programs pretty cool...my biggest happieness was with the user manual...that thing answered a lotta questions in itself with regards to soundcard operation period...for anyone not real familiar in this territory i reccomend reading it and using this program...extremely user friendly...thks eh
