cheapo monitors

i'm broke, but need some monitors. i've been told to check out tannoy proto-j, yorkville ysm1 and m-audio bx5. what do you guys think about these (compared to each other i guess - i'm guessing a lot of you wouldn't consider them to begin with?) and do you have other suggestions? thanks.

The yorkvilles are actually really good monitors. Whether they are cheap or not they are really good. I can't comment on the other ones.

Tannoys....Good......M-Audio...Bad

I haven't heard the Yorkvilles, but I hear good things about them.

the proto-j's are right up there with the yorkvilles, but Id say the M-Audios are a small step down.....

Like my proto-J's alot. If I mix on them it sounds good on almost any stereo I throw it on.
