cheap USB connection

Anyone using the Edirol Spdif to USB connector? If so, express your thoughts.

The reason for this post is that I am attempting to connect an all-in-one DAW to a PC for editing/ mastering and I'm cheap.

What do you mean by an all-in-one DAW? Which one are you using?

USB is a VERY slow computer interface. Anything above 4 tracks streaming through it will certainly make it choke.

If you want cheap, you shouldn't be looking at USB. Any USB or Firewire device costs more than a PCI counterpart and delivers inferior performance.


USB - 12Mbits/sec (1.25Mbytes/sec)
Firewire - 400 Mbit/sec (50MBytes/sec)
PCI - upwards of 100Mbytes/sec
