there must be a free or at least cheap, standalone media player that acts as an eq analyzer, even just graphically. i am in the mixing stage of my recording and i want to get a look at where my mixes are too heavy generally so i can fix it before mastering. i trust my ear and all that but i would just like to be able to see how my songs look as active eq spreads before i start mixing down and mastering. does anyone know of any software that will do this in a simple intuitive way?

u might wanna try Voxengo Span. Its graphically not the best, but very useful as it also shows peak and rms levels of your song

Audacity ( http://audacity.sourceforge.net ) has a View>Plot Spectrum analysis built into it. Free program.

Or you could go look over in the search bar at www.kvraudio.com (they link to EVERYTHING audio and you can specify 'free' or 'paid' in the plugin search). Best source out there...

hey thanks tim, the audacity plug was just what i needed!
