cheap monitor stand solution

dont know if this would work for everyone, but i thought i would share.

yesterday, i was dragged to michals arts and crafts, but istumbled upon a cheap solution to raise my monitors/speakers to a good height.

these are little stools, i dont know, i guess people paint them or something. they we 6.99 each, and worked out perfect for me. i was originally going to get a bunch of 3/8" clear acrylic and "weld" the peices together to form bases for the monitors, but this was way cheaper, and their was no work involved.

I was at a craft store and found a couple of wrought iron plant stands, 10" x 10" x 30"(h), with 1" wooden slats with 1/2" seperation between them. I added a couple of Auralux monitor pads for aiming purposes, and voila... perfect monitor stands. They're heavy, but light on top.
 
4 inch PVC Pipe and closet flanges at both ends, then cut two pieces of 10"X3/4" shelf board 10" by 10" square for each end for the base.
center on the flanges then drill holes tin the base to secure them to the flange with counter sunk machine screws and nut.
then paint them if you wish.

you can make them any heighth you need.

very lightweight and portable.

Galvanized threaded 3/4" plumbing pipe with round flanges on each end - pretty much the same thing but not so wide and just as strong, maybe a little cheaper. :)

You think like a Pipe fitter or either a Plumr:cool:

you can also use an elbow with that Galv water pipe to make wall units;)

I sorta like the looks of 4" PVC floor units
the PVC units would probably cost about 20bucks to build a set
and the Galvanized units would prolly cost about 10bucks or less per set.
